Hey, well, I fired up my 5M-GE yesterday (the one I swapped into my MKI). It ran and revved like complete crap, so we swapped coils, and now has tons of power and revs nicely, but still runs a little rough on the bottom end, like it has a miss. Does this sound like a bad pickup, or maybe I just need to run the engine some (it's been sitting like 10 years). Its got a new cap, rotor, and plugs.
The idle on it seems to be stuck pretty high, like 2500 rpm or so. How do I adjust it? Do I loosen the TPS and adjust it that way, or is there another way?

Sam,
There is actually an idle adjust screw on the TB right near where the cables comes onto it. No need to mess with the TPS.
How'd surgery on the :chomper: go anyway?

The surgury went pretty well, actually. The worst part of the whole deal was when the stuck the needle in me to put me out, and I barely felt that, thanks to the NAWZ :D By Saturday I felt fine, but took it easy. Sunday was a trip to the junkyard, Monday was some wrenching. Doesn't hurt too bad, I'm not even needing my pain medication. And I get food stuck in the holes, so I have a snack sitting around whenever I get hungry :(

If you change that screw too much, it will change the tps setting though. easy way to find out if the tps is off a considerable amount is by checking the computer code. If you can't get it to give you any code, your tps is too far off and should be reset. I just went through the same thing a few months ago w/my '85...
