Looking for help from anyone converting to 5 speed... the online TRSM link I have is for an Auto. The info found on here and a few 5spd. links I have don't go into the details.

Anyways, I've accquired a ECU from a donor car and installed it... the auto tranny ECM (yes ECM... ECU was replaced) can go bye-bye, right? I've read people who just bridge some pins, etc...

Next, does anyone know the connections for the following:

1) Reverse lights
2) Clutch sensors, front and rear of pedal housing (neutral safety and cruise)
3) Any other connections needed besides the speed sensor (white plug)?

Thanks in advance,
Patrick

Ok, jackass... I did search (while smoking a little fine Oregon bud)! But still... nothing is mentioned for actual wiring. At least none of the 50 threads I looked at!

I got the tranny from the Seattle area... I asked Joe about the spare tranny as well and got the same answer. :) You did do the swap, right? How did the wiring get done?

Other than that... things couldn't be better I guess. Got a fresh engine almost ready to go back in. I had the machinist take about 30 or so pic's from the block rework process (milling, boring, hot tank, etc...)... more of the assembly will be taken once he's done with everything and I get it back for actual assembly.

Patrick

Com'on... 45 views and no "informative" (no offense Davie) responses. Starting to think the re-birth of SF was a mistake. lolz

honestly i did it, and just left my auto computer in place. no problems up to date. i dont have reverse lights though, and no nuetral saftey switch. if you take the shift selector off the auto tranny, (the thing with the lever that connects to shifter), and leave that in nuetral and plugged in, you will get a start, as the car says its in neutral, and you may also get cruise control-as i do but i thought it would not work unless it was in the drive position. if you have any questions, pm me or im me at the same name at aol.com. good luck bro

Ive also done the swap but i also have no reverse lights (too lazy to check into) and no cruise, id kill to get my cruise back since i drive about 80mi on the interstate every day. i didnt leave the auto. shift selector in it though, i just connected the two wires for the auto tranny neutral safety switch(found wire colors in TSRM) and it starts without the clutch being depressed which worked out because i put an auto start on it.

im also using the auto ECU with no problems, although i know someone that has a 5-speed one that im planning on swapping out to see if i notice a difference, i might take both to the dyno and see what happens.

i also removed the auto. computer box.

Sorry, I should have included more details:

1) Reverse lights

This one was just fugured out! blk wire (from auto shifter sensor and blu wire from neutral safety (3-wire plug)... SO wiring is used form 2 different plugs.

2) Clutch sensors, front and rear of pedal housing (neutral safety and cruise)

Not hooked any of them up yet. Although, to start the car (once the engine/tranny are actually in)... I've also bypassed the neutral safety as well (thicker wht/blk wires from auto shift sensor). The actual clutch sensor needs to be wired into the ignition in order for it to work properly. I thik I've got the wiring info for the cruize as well... just haven't remember where I stored it now.

I have the old ECU, but opted for a 5 spd. from an '88. The ECM is removed as well.

Not sure why you would want to leave the gear selector in bro? I mean, you'll have a stick coming through the hole.

3) Any other connections needed besides the speed sensor (white plug)?

Speed sensor was a direct plug-n-play from the auto to 5spd. I later found out the plug is actually blk, not wht (reverse sensor).

dunno about you but i have ABS, my tranny was out of a car that did not have ABS therefore its missing the sensor and it doesnt work untill i get one.(light on in dash, wheels lock up under HEAVY braking) other than that its fine.

I believe the wires coming off the tranny for the reverse lights areyellow and white IIRC??

Well, I've got a '87 rolling chassis/engine and a '88 r154 5spd.

There reverse wires on the tranny itself are wht/blk. The wiring needed from the in-car harness is blk/blu. I got pic's if you need them.... :)

Finishing up the details on my 1JZ swap, where I used a 90T/auto Canadian model Supra and installed a 91 1JZ/5-speed.

Here's my question...

Since the 1JZ front clip did not have ABS, what do I have to do to install the speed sensor onto the 5-speed tranny? Though I have not checked, wouldn't the plug be there for the engine harness to connect to anyway? Right now I still have the white 4-wire plug hanging near the firewall, with nowhere to go....

I do want my ABS, cruise, and all of the speed sensor related features to work on my Sup...

THANX guys!!!!

lol... it's prolly cheaper to find another tranny with ABS.

Actually... without an ABS sensor, I'm not sure how (or if possible) to hook one up. You might end up ditching the ABS all together.

I've got a sensor on the way and it appears as if only 1 bolt that holds it in. Waiting on some advance pics. Hoping that maybe there's a block off plate that can simply be removed and the sensor installed, without any other internal mods.... Will fill ya in on what turns out.

Are the electronics and speedo the same for the r154 and w58?

the ABS hole is there just plugged if the trans didnt have ABS. Drill a screw through the plug and yank on the screw to get it out.

i recently did a 5sp swap on my freinds car, and the car locks up and the abs lights comes on. so my question is do i unplug the plug than put the abs wire in there? or do you know whats causing this?

What wires did you guys splice together for bypass the neutral safety switch?

and off what plugs?

I saw some where to splice the blue and black wire of the gear selector, but when i did that only this happens.
