Drift Event at Tucson Raceway Park!

March 7 2004

Gates open at 10:00
Drivers Meeting at 10:30
Track Closes at 5:00

TOP 3 Drivers of the Day will be invited to perform in front of an audience at one of TRP's season events to help gauge local intrest in our sport!

Pre-registration fee is $50.00 this guarantees you admission to the event.

Spectator admission is FREE

All entrées under 18 will need parental consent forms filled out and notarized PRIOR to the event. These will be supplied by TRP.

Rules:

Drivers are required to obey all orders, commands and requests signaled to or communicated by other methods by officials; of the Venue, Course and Track Officials.

5 Miles per Hour Speed limit in paddock, grid and all areas accessible by the drivers that are not part of the competition or practice designated course.

No drivers shall be allowed to proceed onto any course until directed by a starter.

In case of a collision, malfunction, other reasons of inability to move the car while on course, the driver is asked to wait in the car with seatbelts and helmet worn until directed or assisted by course marshal (exception to this rule will be any pending or visible fire, chemical hazards that threatens the driver)

Drivers must not tamper, assist or offer use of tools to another car without the respective owner or drivers consent.


Vehicle requirements:

At least 2 spare tires (no one will be allowed to run with "temporary spare" tires or tires with no tread left)

Brake pads must have more than 25% of original condition

Brakes must be properly bled and all seals in good condition, pedal and linkages must be free of excessive wear, play and malfunction or missing parts.

Snell SA95, MA95 or newer rating approved helmet (drivers and passengers where allowed) NO LOANER AVAILABLE

Remove floor mat, loose items.

Remove all hubcaps, and cosmetic trim from all wheels

Seatbelts must be properly attached and in good working order, or aftermarket racing harness of at least 4 points attached to the chassis by methods approved by manufacturer, and must meet racing use requirements.

Throttle & steering linkages and cable, pedals must be in good working order.

Brake lamps must be operational

All lug nuts tightened to 80ft/lbs torque, with at least 4 turns on thread, and present at all studs on the hub.

Suspension parts, modifications checked for proper installation

Windows and windshields must be free of cracks or breaks over 1" in length,
All body panels must be present, and secured by fasters.

Tires must have over 3/32 of an inch tread left on the tires.

Rumors are that there is going to be a drift even also at Phoenix internation race way March 20 put on by Bondurant.com......

the rumors may be true... they already had an exhibition day with the Bondurant people to see how drifting effects the track and what not...

As for the slide time... lets just say at the last Tucson drift event most of the drivers didnt quit because of loss of time but loss of tires!

I was there at Phoenix raceway for IRL open testing (I work for the IRL) and the Crown Vic put the two 240sx's to SHAME!!!!!

no jdmvigor wasnt there... but we saw the video that frisco made and we are good friends with george (sil8ty on az240)... that crown vic was CRAZY!

Did anyone else show up? There wasn't a HUGE turnout, but soem skilled drivers were there. A whole handful of 240's both turbo and NA, a few turbo RX7's, a turbo MKIV Supra, and a 350Z. There were a few good drivers, and a few really not so good drivers. It was free, so oh well. Got a few pictures, but none were too great. Not bad though, I guess we'll wait until the good shows come to town. :D

i was gonna come, but i had to work...
then again i dont wanna ruin my new mkiv the week i got it ;)
The mkiv that was out there was the previous owner of my car.

Haha, I see...that makes sense. I guess he's got a thing for white Supras huh? Maybe next event you'll make it. Pictures coming soon.

Well, the 350Z kicked butt, and the car was stock as far as I could tell. 2 of the 240's had skill, and the Supra had some power for sure. The blue RX7 seemed skilled, yet left room for improvement. Very nice car though, much props.
