Hi all,
On Halloween a group of my car friends and I took a failed trip to Stanton. We drove all the way out there through some intermittent drizzle, but Stanton it self was dry. Well the punk ass bitches never opened that day due to "weather forecast" and it was their last track day of the year.
So some of the guys and I are thinking about making a run to Milan and wondered if any other Supra guys would like to meet up? This will be my first time to the track since I got my car working so I’m not expecting much. But I’d like to get a few runs in before the end of the year and it goes into storage.
If you’re interested, please post here or email me at wysiwyg321@yahoo.com

it is pretty hard to find.....or is it that every time they try to drive there their cars just swerve away? or maybe they get lost? =)

Well, I went racing with my friends and it was a blast! I didn’t see any other Supra’s there, but that might have been because I came late. Before I list off any times I want to let you know all the facts first. 1st, the guys at Monkey Wrench Racing did a great job of doing exactly what I asked of them, making the car dependable. It wasn’t set up for top performance or speed, I just wanted it to operate like the stock ECU was still in it. It has 375rwhp on low boost and I was able to drive it to Vegas and back. At the track I aired down the rears tires to 30psi. 2nd, this was my first time to the track with this car let alone a turbo car. I need to do some reading and get some guidance on how to launch an auto with the stock torque converter.
With that said I only got 2 runs because I showed up late and they were doing “Gamblers Run” along with test and tune. I told everybody, including the red necks that wanted to know how fast my car was, that I thought I would be in the 14’s. My first run wasn’t that good, but the second one I got 14.997. So I did it, I was technically in the 14’s! :D
No Shame

I don't mean to sound like an asshole but...
How in the world are you running 14.9 with 375 rwhp? Not only that, but you have an auto...I understand you wanted your car to be dependable and not tuned for top speed, but stock times are better than yours.
I know its cold out there and traction is a bitch, but you shouldn't be getting a 14.9 time slip. I assume you had too much wheel spin off the line or hella bog...What was your 60 foot?

I asked myself the same question. I don't have the slip with me now, I'll post a pic later as I don't have a scanner.
Just to clarify I'm running an AEM and I think there's a hole in the map for 2nd gear. It would pull strong and fast in both 1st and 3rd, but 2nd was a very slow gear.
No Shame

drjonez, I have a printout from the dyno pulls for the HP. I'm not sure about the TC locking up. How can I be sure? Is there a way to test it?
No Shame

That trap and 60 foot are horrendous...im sure it doesnt have to be said but, somethin has to be wrong with your car.
Sorry man, good luck with your times.

great. while you may have a printout, your timeslip says otherwise. if you were making that level of power, you would be trapping around 110 or so....even with your crap 60'....

Yes, your car has issues.
Have whoever built it, fix it.
Best of luck.

That's really great and all, but I bought the car built, then had it tuned.
Do any of you guys have any suggestions as to where to start looking to fix my issues?

I have ridden in Wolff's Supra a few times and 2nd is pretty damn slow. After that its hella fast but by the time he is ready to bolt the 1/4 mile is over. I am pretty sure my Talon could take him up until 3rd then he would be gone. The car should be much faster but who knows. I think a BIG WTF to Monkey Wrench is in order. I wish you could have a really good auto supra owner launch it for you and see what time they get.
PS: Milan is known for a realyl shitty forst 25 feet of track...sooo slick!!!

I'd say go to Sound Performance if you are in the Chicagoland area at all. I ran faster times bone stock on my Auto. I have no idea what I would run with my setup as I haven't been to the track in a year or two (I forget).

Thanks for the replies guys and maybe it just needs more tuning. But I have to give credit where credit is due and not let this reflect badly on Monkey Wrench. I brought my car to them barely running with somebody else’s MAP totally untuned and untested. I told them I needed it dependable enough to drive to Vegas and back and I only had 2 weeks until I had to hit the road. They got the car working great and I made the trip with no problems.

Those numbers are tough, hope you get things sorted out.
My car is an automatic and I have dynoed at 370whp before. My best time is 12.9 @ 111mph on street tires. Your 60 ft is bad and I'm sure that is part of the problem but something else is wrong. Like it's already been stated, your traps should be way higher. Keep us updated!

I've never been to Milan but want to make the trip up there next summer. I'm just down I-75 about 1 and a half hours south of the Michigan border. I've been going to Marion Co. Dragstrip down here and it has to be the shittiest strip in Ohio.
My mods and best time of the summer are listed below.

Awesome, hopefully I'll catch you and your car out there  There are always a bunch of imports from the Toledo area racing. Check in this forum next spring, Xceedspeed.com will be sponsoring more import/spo-com drag races next year.
