Hey guys, I just bought a supra in Rockville, MD. I go to school on the Eastern Shore, but live in Pennsylvania when I'm not at school. I'd like to go pick the car up, but I'm wondering what to do as far as registration is concerned. In PA they have like those 20 day non-resident tags for out of state purchases so you can take it to your home state and register it. Does Maryland have something like this? Thanks a lot for your help!

They have temporary inspection tags for you to get it maryland state inspected, where are you getting it registered in?

I am actually into the same predicament with selling a car to a guy in PA. I looked into getting temp tags to deliver the car and they told me I had to have proof of at least temp insurance to get them.

I called a tags place and they said that only the MVA will distribute Temp tags, but he had no idea what type of other documentation would be necessary to complete the process. I was hoping just the title would suffice, i guess not. Anyone else have any info on this?

In this situation, i would wait till you are ready to pick up the car and can take it to the motor vehicle administration in PA and transfer your title and get it back home. At that point you can do whatever you want since you now have it home. I would ask the guy selling the car if you could keep the tags to transport the car home and then send the tags back to him. I would let him hold on to some for collateral to ensure some type of trust. I've sold a couple cars to out of state buyers and i let you hold on to my tags to transport the car home and i requested that they immediately send the tags back over. But thats just me.

I'll see if he'll do that, thanks a lot for the idea.
