Anyone have and use this product. I have heard some good and bad? Is this thing really accurate? Worth buying?

Thanks,
Mike

I have one, I took out the wife's Rav4 and it put down 129hp and did the 1/4 mile in 17.5 seconds @ 78 or 82 mph... I can't remember. That's pretty accurate to me.

I dyno'd my friend's mustang on it and it made 357hp and then we took it to the dyno (dyno jet) and it put down 362rwhp that same day.

You can get the old version on ebay for $35.00 shipped now that the new one is out, so it's worth it for sure. If anything it's good to have for seeing if something is wrong. I dyno'd my car and it put down 465hp (SP63 single, 15psi) and then it felt slow one day and I thought something was wrong but everybody told me it felt the same. I dyno'd it with the G-tech and it only made 242hp so I knew something was wrong for sure and I fixed it. :D

I believe it is as accurate as a dyno IF you set the correct weight into the unit before your HP run. you must take into account the weight of the car, people and fuel. The 357-362 dyno result could suggest that maybe you didnt take into account the weight of yourself or fuel?

I think its best use is for gauging modifications- each time you make a run make sure you input the same weight and run with similar amounts of gas in the tank.

The dyno funciton on my G-Tech Comp Pro seems to be consistently lower than actual dyno numbers, and I have a good idea what my car weighs, too.

But the accel numbers are pretty close if you set it up correctly, in the 1/4 mile it is typically about .3s and 4 mph optimistic compared to actual track times and is consistent, at least that's enough to tell you when you are improving. And the shorter the distance, the more accurate it is, for example the 1/8th and 60 ft is very close. The PASS software is the coolest, it plots a graph of your accel just like you might see in Motor Trend, 0-30, 30-40, 40-50, etc up to whatever speed you reach (well the limit is 300 mph and 4000 feet distance :D )

i had both version, and the basic one by far gets my vote. Although the Pro one has alot of cool shit, i only use them once. After that, its jsuty basic, 60', 1/4mile, and mph.

I took mine down the actual track, when my acr was basically stock. I would run 13.05 , 12.93, etc..etc.. and it would get it on the tenth everytime. Only thing was the mph would be 2-3mph high. But its actually right, since at the track it is averages your speed over a certain distance at the 1/4mile mark.

I assume they are best used for comparative purposes (comparing mods, etc).
I got mine on eBay for $39.

Thanks to all who replied. SO this, sounds pretty good then. It sounds pretty accurate. Not as accurate as a dyno, but may be useful for some tuning assuming you setup a good base line to work off of. DOes the RPM feature work on our Supra's? Is the P.A.S.S. software a good tool?

Thanks Again,
Mike

I guess I'm gonna buy one then if you guys like them. I'd want it as a comparative peice, to know when I'm getting better or worse, not necessarily what numbers I make.

most of you probably wont listen, but like is aid in my above post: Just get the simple g-tech, not the PRO. Its 10x more easy to set and it has the only features your gonna use.

It literally takes me 1-2minutes befor a run for me to calibrate the god damn PRO one. With the base model i can level it out to 0.0 in 10 seconds.

Bro it doesn't matter what ECU you have. It plugs into your lighter. It'll work on any car with a power source, to my understanding.

Anyone know if the horsepower that the gtech measures is crank or wheel?

yeh thanks, just thinking about it now i realized that it shouldn't matter what ecu i have because the measurements aren't depedent on the car's computer at all. it's all just measuring external g forces and calculating the data from that (from what i understand) so you're right, as long as i have a power source, im fine

 :1poke:
You know, it measures accelerations - so that would make it wheel, and including any aerodynamic effects. FWIW
