MD/VA/DC big car meet march 5th

hey just wanted to see if anyone was interested. There's a big meet that's being organized in VA a big parking lot that can hold 500+ cars. This is in PWC, where 123 and I-95 meet. some WRX's are going as midatlantic 240 members are going and lot's of other clubs and forums are going. They said you can reserve spots if you are a club or forum. so I think it would be cool if 20or more supras showed up. so who's interested this its march 5 BTW. this is sponsored by the Police dept who said they will not be dicks and give exaust tickets they just said they don't wanna c any racing or burnouts in the parking lot. This is also sponsored by many shops in the area. so if your interested post here and if we get more than 15 cars we can reserve a spot :)

No I am actually gonna be at home that weekend, so I'll be in the MD area if us MDers wanna meet somewhere and cruise down together. How long of a drive is it? If it's too long I don't know if I can make it, but if it's within a couple hours I should be good to go.

Directions to get there from drag VA

Bryan wanted me to post up these directions for people not knowing where to go. They are correct because I drove them personally.

This is a meet for everyone and anyone.....bring as many people as possible. There are several clubs that are coming from the north and south. The more people the merrier, but unlike other meets, good behavior will be enforced!!!!!

You cannot miss the lot because the exit ramp coming off of I-95N actually circles around the lot. The lot is located in Woodbridge, Virginia.

Directions from regions south of Woodbridge....
Take I-95 North towards Washington and look for the Route 123 exits. There are 2 exits and you need to take the second one (the exit # is 160B). When you get off onto the second Route 123 exit it will circle around the commuter lot and you can exit right into the lot off of the exit ramp.

Directions from regions north of Woodbridge....
Take I-95 South towards Richmond and get off at exit 161 (Route 1). It is a left exit off of I-95 so watch out for this. Once on the exit, be careful of speed traps right after you pass under the overpass because the speed limit drops down to 35mph. Go thru the first traffice light, cross over the bridge, go thru the second traffic light. Make a right at the third traffic light onto Gordon Blvd/Route 123. Stay in the right hand lane, continue on through the first traffic light and then you will see a sign for the "commuter lot". Make a right at the second traffic light and continue on down the road, pass the hotel on your left, go under the overpass and enter into the commuter lot.

the guy said he talked to the chief of the PD and he said his boys won't be assholes they won't even be there. He said one police car will go by from time to time. and yeah i think it's close from manassas

Well you got one in Bmore, I think two in Columbia, one in Ellicott City. Am I the furthest South? I am 15 mins from 495. I was talking to Alex tonight and it looks like the best bet for me meeting anyone would be to meet you all somewhere on a 495 exit. That way we can all roll in as a group like they recommended.

tysons is good for people coming down 270 and the like montgomer county people. People in PG and probably up towards b-more would probably take the wilson bridge over to va and if they do that they will pass the 95s exit before the get to tysons.

Yea, just take 495 To N.VA and get off on Chain Bridge Rd Exit towards Tysons and at the first light make a right and Tyson 2 is on your right and the first exit is the Macys.

Did we want that top level of Macy's like Val said? Is that a big one? I wish I knew what this place looked like, but if it's big enough and it'll have some outlying parking spots all together then that's where we need to be.

guys there is a problem I 'm know this area very well and if guys want to go there after 5:30 , god we are going to get stock intraffic for about 2 hours , besides that the exit from 495 to 95 is one line only because that area is in construction so guys I recomend you leave early and meet early

So what would you suggest as far as when we should meet at Tyson's and then when we should leave there?

If you know the traffic then that's best for how we should set up our schedule. Why would traffic be so bad that day, though. Just because of the construction? Sorry I'm not familiar with the area so I have no idea what to expect.

well guys traffic get really bad after you past the springfield mall that is a every day problem in that area the contruction only affects the exit from 495 into 95 but only from around 5 to late 7 so even if we go at 5 we still going to have some traffic but we'll be there on time so I think we shouuld meet between 4:30 and 5:30 and use all are NOS

K going from tysons to 495 then to 95 yahoo says 31min but my cousin leaves a 10min from that place and i helped him moved i got stuck in that exit for a long time. and it was a saturday the second time i was there i had to take another route

I'd suggest meeting at 6 and then leaving at about 6:30 or 6:45 since it's 30 or so mins away and we're going straight down that 123 highway. Chime in if you feel otherwise, I won't take offense.

Folks in the Alexandria/Springfield area: ill be glad to meet up at the Springfield Mall (Silver Diner) at ~630pm. Those heading from tysons on 495 -> 95S MUST pass this mall exit anyway (unless they go rt123). hopefully we can link up prior, otherwise we'll head down 95s after 7pm and catch them down there. pm me..

And the trafiic from Tysons to Woodbridge shouldn't be to bad you just have too know how to go. Taking 123 from Tysons would be a long drive and have quite a few lights.

m: yep, im ~1mi from the mall. u probably passed right by the mall last time we met up. 495s (from tysons) > 95s > franconia rd east - puts u right at the mall and the silver diner.

what i was thinking is if we go
tysons-----66----either 123 or FFX county park way those are much preferable to 95 plus right there the roads are HORRIBLE with potholes and up down crap

cause going 495-66 -123 (tysons to my house) takes 10 min
123 to the commuter lot maybe 20? max if we are really slow?
that drops us right ontop of the lot and has nice roads ;)

tysons is kinda the opposite direction on the beltway that id go to get there. plus, yeah, that area is absolutely fn horrible for traffic, even on saturday. then again, it being a saturdya will definitely alleviate some of the congestion.

im not gonna be that guy though to throw off all the planning already in place. id like to throw in a vote for somewhere else though, maybe the 495/95 park and ride around college park. real easy in and off, and then we can keep going down 95S/495, past the wilson bridge into virginia and off to 123. definitely coming around the less congested part of the beltway too. i used to be able to make it from my house to fedex field in less than 30 minutes on autocross mornings :)

anywho, i'll keep checking back this thread. i'll pm someone my phone number at some point.

I'd recommend being there at 6 though, some of us are gonna reach traffic so the 45 minute cushion is good. Plus, we're gonna wanna shoot the shit anyway. I'll aim for being there at 6 with whoever I'm travelling with.

So 6 PM meet at Tyson's II, leaving at 6:45. Directions from there will be as 96Celica stated.

Nah, I'm keeping the GE (NA-T) setup. I'm pushing 515rwhp on pump gas and that is plenty for the street. :D
I'm just having lots of engine parts powdercoated and doing a major tune up on the engine. Also need to change the clutch and installing new rear bumper and side skirts. It should all be done by mid March ;)

I will be getting the SP500's this week hopefully and get them put on this after the weather breaks a little. That porsche seal gray is nice, i thought about painting my car that color but i'd rather keep it alpine silver or restore it back to its original color antharacite.

to tell you the truth, i don't think any shop is gonna gurantee against chipping/cracking the paint. Its the the roll of the dice whether it happens or not. They will be using a heat gun to lessen the chance but it still could happen. I haven't gotten a exact quote but i'm betting its gonna be under $100. I think Holshot is also getting his done there too. I'm going next week to get the fenders rolled so when it warms up and the salt and snow clears i can throw on the rims.

The only twit I saw a a NOVA who spun a tire leaving and I think the cops had some words with some CRX drivers. Overall pretty cool but why did so few people pop their hoods??

damn, elaborate on what they were doing. Evrything seemed cool untill i left, but i was one of the first supras to leave. All in all i think it was a really nice meet, id do it again next week if i could haha. Oh yeah TSF_PJ i really like your car, it looks really nice, dont see to many sc300s arround me.

engine revving, peeling out, once on a straight opening it up. there were reports of street racing on all sides of the meet. one kid pulled into the meet without a hood. proceded to take up 3 spaces. then was talkin about illegal ish. and the cops were standing right there. it wasn't much longer that they pulled the plug. we stuck around until every one was gone and picked up the trash. the ricers were still comin in. doin dumb ricer stuff. i watched a bone stock newer corolla do some kind of lame display of a burnout/drift? i couldn't tell what it was. luckily for him the cops had already taken off.
