My head lamps are badly scratched on my '94 Supra. I'm trying to find out the best place to purchase new ones. My son in law told me about obtaining new "glass head lamps" for about $600. Is that the best way to go. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Those would be the glass headlights that came on European Supras. I got my euro set from Curt at Elmhurst Toyota who is always excellent with service and price. Drop him a note and he'll usually reply pretty fast: http://www.supraforums.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=100
Another option would be to have your original plastic headlights taken apart and polished. That looks excellent too and you keep the original light pattern since some people don't like the light pattern on the Euro lights. There are a couple members here who do a good job of polishing the original lights if you search for that topic.

My question on the euro lamps is what happens going down the freeway when a truck throws a small rock at those nice glass headlights? Do they take it or just break all to hell.

The glass ones should be ok...........another thing people do is just buy the 98 style headlights..........whichever way you go contact Curt at Elmhurst Toyota and he'll hook you up! Thats where I get all my OEM parts :)

Actually, I haven't read any complaints as to the durability of the glass lights unless...
...unless you have bad luck and the first time you have them at an HPDE day on a road course some car kicks up a hunk of something and cracks one of your pretty new headlights ...like happened to me damn it. I didn't even notice it happened until I came off the track and saw it. I even had it taped up but not completely covered with protection. I'm thinking of just taking them out for future events or putting my old plastics back in for the track.
...ahem ahem Curt, I wonder if that's covered under warranty? ;) I suppose I'll have to buy a replacement driver's side very soon

Is there a law against driving with the glass headlights? I'm from Europe and there is no way your car will pas inspections there with US plastic headlights.
Is it the other way around here?

I believe legality is an issue but I'm not sure if it's national or by state. I don't care about that so I did it.

They are like the glass in the windsheild. Thick and heavy.

IMO I'd go for the 97-98 Style over the Euros.
They look 1000x better.

To each his own, but that's about the same as saying vanilla is 200 times better than chocolate.
I didn't buy the euro glass to save a couple bucks, I like them better. But I never agreed with all the fuss about the new head and tail lights. I like the look of the original stuff on my '95.

Sounds like someone doesnt remember the days not very long ago when all headlights were glass . The plastic ones will probably break before the glass ones do

Agreed!
Most of the cars that were built before 1980 came with glass headlights. Plastic headlights replaced them because they were cheaper to manufacture. I like the glass headlight myself - it's always shiny and very easy to clean.

The thing is most SF members here weren't even born then... :)
If I had to replace the headlights, I would definitely go with the glass ones. Good luck.

Do the euro's tend to fog over time like the plastic ones?

Hi Will,
Is that your first name? I'm really new with this computer stuff and Supraforums and your user name is Willjs7. In any case, it was real great hearing from you. Is that your car in the picture? Are those your stats? I would really like to meet with you to see you and those glass headlight covers. I'm going to Orlando this weekend-my wife and I go there often. The following week I will be vacationing in Las Vegas. Please give me call to set up a time that would be good for both of us. My # at home is 727-446-1452 and my cell # is 727-560-4090. I'm looking forward to getting together with you. Take Care, Bill
I got the glass Euros. Great look(shiny and clear) and solid as a rock. I haven't gotten any rock chips and they will not fog up or discolor as the plastic ones do(Including the 97-98 style). They are much cheaper than the 97-98 as well. Here are a few pics.
