Got into a debate on the clubwrx.net forum about some guy who is stage 2 "beating a new R6. The converstaion turned into arguments about drag coefficients and power to weight, etc. So my question is, how many of you have raced modded cars on your bikes? List the bike, engine size, rider weight, car and it's mods( if possible). Also, if anyone knows with some certainty at what mph drag starts to hurt bikes (100+? 130+?) let me know. Thanks.

about 160 is where the more power in the 1000 and 1300 CC bikes starts to really show. Up until then the bikes are all fairly even. Relatively speaking of course.

^^ i agree but thats liter bikes vs 600's. against cars its a different world. I dont know what 'stage 2' for a wrx is, but its have to be pretty damn fast to take out a new r6. from a stop, theres no way IMO, even with the 4wd launch. bike accelerate way to fast for cars to keep up. from a 60mph roll to up top is deffernt, but even from a roll at 60mph, i think my 02 r6 was faster than my bpu+ supra. (until up top)

to take a liter bike out you need to be pushing a LOT of hp. for instance you'd need a fairly large single turbo supra to keep up. I plan to race my r1 against my friends t04r supra one of these day,i'll let you know how that turns out.

depends on a few factors. from a high speed roll, the car will have the advantage. 600's lose a lot of power after about 130. they get up to about 160, but 130 - 160 takes a lot longer than say 70-100. liter bikes are good to ~150. i have lost to two cars. one c5 corvette and one (sick) c2 corvette. both races started at about 80.

from a dig, a wrx will jump on most riders on any bike, but we would reel them in very fast.

i raced my friends rb25 240 last week. i won every time.... the only time he had hope was from a dig.. he took me off the line but i reeled him in in 1st gear.. lol

Yeah, modern sportbikes accelerate to 60 in less than 3 seconds...you need a powerful car to beat one. I am just talking in general here! :)

my bike falls flat on its face at about 120 until then ive taken a couple single turbo 2jz with ease from a dig and a 55 rolll.

most riders racing from a roll dont pick the right gear... e.x. my buddys 04 gsx-r 750 does an indicated 115 in 2nd gear. i race him from 50 and he drops it into 3rd and i'm in second and he gets walked by a 10year older bike with tons of miles.

rider has a-lot to do with the outcome of the race. i'm very strong at launching, enough so that brand new 600's and 750's dont pass me until 80

Honestly around 100 to 130mph depending on the bike is when the air will start hurting it over a car. I don't agree that a 1000 won't show it's power advantage over a 600 until 160 though. A lot of 600's are lucky to hit 160 unless the conditions are perfect and a newer 1000 can usually do that no problem. A busa/12R/and all the new litre bikes are about dead even depending on who gets the hit or is the better rider. Off the line it comes down to if the rider can launch. If it was me racing a car from a dig I would just consentrate on launching equal to him just enough to stay along side until I new I was out of the hole then just tear ass away simply so I wouldn't bog it or stand it up on end, but that's just me.

here is the vid clip of a drag race between a jet, porsche, and r1. pretty much sums it up.

I don't see much logic in that. I raced my frein'ds R1 on my 600rr. We were both stock back then from a 60mph punch. He'd leave my ass in a second! No way I can hang with him for any longer than that. I ride his bike every now and then and that bike has some scary power.
