I believe the consensus was ~15 PSI. But some people say more is fine.

There are a few important points here:

1. The higher the boost, the shorter the life of your turbo. Period. However, one level of boost may be significantly less damaging than a couple PSI more.

2. As you pass 14-15PSI, the CT26's efficiency rapidly decreases. The compressed air coming out of the turbo becomes very hot. So, 16PSI is not a full "effective" pound more of boost than 15PSI. The benefit of going to 17 from 16 is yet less, and so on. So, you'd have to go from, say, 15 to 18PSI to get the same difference you would feel from 10 to 11.

3. CT26s are generally known to last well at 14-15PSI, but give out quite rapidly if routinely run a few PSI higher.

Add these truths, and the result is to run 14-15PSI. Any more, and you're destroying your turbo for no particularly evident reason. Nevertheless, perhaps you could run 18PSI just once if you REALLY have to beat that guy in the next lane ... :bigthumb:

Do note that this applies to a good-condition turbo that's not on the verge of self-destruction anyway.

^^ :agreed: i wouldnt run past 14-15psi on stock ct-26, after that it looses it efficientcy.

whats the best psi to run on a jdm motor with aout 40K or so miles. The hg is going to be replaced with a stock one just to start fresh> I mulled over getting a MGH but the cost to effectiveness for me is not much. Im not gonna be running alot of any other mods cuz this is gonna be my daily driver. What do yall think?

if you are going to replace the hg with the stock one and not a mhg then your stock hg will give out at 12psi or so. so in the end if you plan on running any significant amount of boost i would opt for the mhg job. thats what i am currently in the middle of.
