I recently (a month or so ago) picked up a 89 mkiii turbo, with about 188,000 Miles on it.

Some small knocking happening when the car first starts and oil pressure is not yet built up.

Seeing that the motor has 188,000 thousand miles on it, its ready for a rebuild.

So Currently The Block is at the shop getting Hottanked, honed etc. The head is getting redone (replacing any damaged parts), the crank is getting a .10 over on both the Rods and the mains and the pistons/rods/crank are being weight balanced.

I want to also replace the oil pump.

From the local toyota dealer its around 250 for a new pump, from napa is $224 etc.

What aftermarket solutions do people commonly do for the pump it self and where can I view these solutions online?

stay away from ebay... they are no good, the machine shop ordered mine for me it was 165$ it is called something weird but is actually a toyota part the toyota stamp was scratched out, i will try and find out what it was...... also you should read the oil thread before putting your motor back together.... eliminate the oil squirters and shim the pump for more pressure. anyway i would stick with a toyota part for sure anything else is iffy and would never go in my motor.

Very True, I have also been reading up a bunch about sump systems... any recomendations there?
