Will the increase in HP be noticable when I replace my stock cats with two Random Technology cats ? Is it high end or low end? How will it differ from the performance gains of a Downpipe? Thanks

dont waste money on two cats, just get one. your turbos will spool up faster than stock and make more power, mostly top end

Forget the RT setup... Get a DP instead and save the bucks...

I didn't pass smog with this and I'm Wish'n I kept the DP instead....

Piece of junk... Plus my car smells now... probably got a leak in the cat.....

If you get caught with both cats off it's $5000. This is what I heard. Correct me if I'm wrong. Besides the RT setup should pass and should give you 20-30 HP. Again this is what i've read.

Any input?

I passed the emissions test with the RT setup. I didn't pass the visual portion. Almost did but not quite. But it only takes an hour to swap out the mid pipe anyway (on a car with hot exhaust and without any jack :). Its a much bigger pain to swap the entire downpipe.

I believe most the the SoCal guys switch because enforcement is not too strict but it saves you the stress because even if you get pulled over just show your carb card. No worries.

The fine is huge. I can't remeber the exact amount but even running a non street legal intake was a fine in the hundreds of dollars. And much like in the other thread I would agree that tampering with smog control devices on a car is probably a crime.

A FEDERAL crime. Supposed to be $5K per device defeated. 2 cats = $10K However I've not ever met anyone who's gotten that kind of fine. Imagine being a Mustang guy - 4 cats X $5K?! This is an EPA thing BTW hence Federal (shrug). I've got NO cats right now but won't pass emissions (duh). I've just purchased a Random cat to be welded in and will be legal here soon :) come to think of it the cat came with some instructions regarding when it can be installed and whatnot, I'll read it and post back if it pertains to this discussion. May dyno the car after the install to see if it lost much power too.
