Hi Ali
I think the reason you haven't got an answer is because the rules for importing cars into Australia are complicated. Also, most Australians tend to post on supraforums.com.au. I prefer sf.com for the technical content though.
I would guess that if your brother is coming to Australia as a student then he wouldn't be allowed to bring the car with him. Even if he did he would have to probably go through the import and compliancing process which adds considerably to the cost.
I believe people migrating to Australia permanently may be able to bring a car with them but not 100% sure.
Those prices for the Skylines and Supras are very cheap compared to Australia. Foreigners are allowed to own and drive cars in Australia as long as they have a valid drivers licence.
Your brother's best option is to buy a car here and sell it when he finishes his course. That's what most of the foreign students do.

You'll also find that while the cost of the car is around $5k AUD, you can double that price to actually get it on the road here because of taxes, etc.

Yep, totally agree. Considering all the legislation in place regarding the registration of imported vehicles, i'm afraid your brother would be digging a big hole for himself and then disappearing into it. There are still some well priced
R32's & non turbo Supras about, & like OZ Soarer said, you can sell it when you're done with it.
