Since my stock struts are toasted cheese sandwiches (I noticed that they are leaking) I was thinking about going with a TEIN HA coilover setup from the supra store. If anyone could give me input about this suspension setup I would appreciate it.

I am not going to talk down upon Tein's, but adjustable coilovers in general. The Tein's are over $1000, and for that money that are far from worth it. Ever notice the SCCA racers setups? I have seen more than several winning vehicles with standard Ground Control coilovers with Koni Adjustable struts. This setup can be had for under $700. All I am saying I guess is if you have the time and know-how to setup the fully adjustable coilovers, then they are worth it -- for race use. On the street, I would think otherwise.

i think coilovers are far superior to the spring/shock setup that most people purchase
they are adjustable
you can raise or lower your car how much you want any time
something you can't do with the lowering springs
if the lowering springs you buy make you scrape or give you a crappy ride, u gotta buy another different pair...not the case with coilovers
if u can part with about 1000$, then get the coilovers

This is also my train of thought. Why are coil overs so hyped up, the only reason I have is psychotiks reply. But will they outhandle the springs and struts?

I do have the $1075 to part with. The fact is that coilovers are more efficient than a standard strut setup as far as dampening is concerned. I have thought about the Koni adjustable Ground Control set up. The cost isn't that important to me. I would like someone to tell me what there experience has been with the TEIN HA setup. I know that Konis and GC coilovers are good, very good, but I would like to hear an informed opinion on the Teins.

also, with coilovers you can get different rates of springs, and the shocks are usually designed to be used with the springs...

Tein are some of the best coilovers on the market. You have not said what you want to do with the car, street or race. If you are dioing street the coilovers are over kill, if want to race they will be ok. Coilover are great for road racing, work ok for autoX ( will put you in the big boy classes), and are not the best for drag racing. But if you have the money I would say go for them. Thats my.02
Coilovers are advantageous due to the height and dampning adjustability. That in its own makes them worth it. You can change at will for whatever application you choose but also one should know that Tein, JIC, Bilstein etc.....are all made to be eventually rebuilt which all eventually will need to be.
What I did to my JIC coilovers is put on some big ugly Rancho dustboots over almost the entire strut. This hopefully will make them last longer.

i have tein's for my car, i havent put them on yet but they are beautiful. i think you pay a little more for the name and exclusivity.
it is like comparing Guess jeans to Levi's, they are both good but you pay a little more for a certain brand name.

an important point that y'all missed is the setup of the coilovers. set up correctly, coilovers will do far better than any spring/strut combo. but set up incorrectly, performance will be severely impacted........this is commonly the case as proper set up isn't easy.

I have the teins also and to tell you the truth, I got them for all the reasons above but mainly in case I break down. The cruising scene up here in CT is 45 min away from me and if I break down, I want to raise the car before it gets put on a flatbed so my bumper stays on the car :D .

drjonez has a very good point
but it just means u gotta do your homework
set up properly, they can even help your launches, meaning lower ET's

I can work the Tein's for ya too, I'll match Sstore. I can work the JICs thru a couple sources too, working towars the final setup there.
I got a large stack of Bilsteins here during a TRD firesale, will have some kits w/ springs ready v.soon.

Being that I am A factory distributer for TEIN I say TEIN TEIN TEIN. Now that ya all know I am very biased I will say why. When you order TEIN's you can specify the spring rates you want. The HA's are awesome but don't forget to take a look at the other models too. The quality in a TEIN is incredible. Here is the facts very few people know how to scale a car. Ask you salesman(I use that term loosely most are just running websites to try and by their stuff cheaper) what is bump steer, how does dampning and spring rates affect my handling. MOST OF ALL why should I put these on my car. Then ask yourself this do you like replacing your struts all the time because of lowering springs.

Might you be packaging those with some H&R's? I am looking for a good german suspension for my japanese car. ;)

a dude back at preludeonline.com (i own a lude right now)
got a set of tein ha's and e said that they are GREAT but give a pretty rough ride. when turning around corners he said they illiminate MOST of the body role that ludes have (might not be the case for mk3's)
