6 speed shifter play

I recently installed a brand new shifter. When in 1st & 2nd gear is there a still a little bit of movement. My old shifter had a lot of play in it, so I wasn't sure if there still is a minute amount of play. By the way, I also replaced my shifter bushings.

If you want it real stiff then tighten the two bolts that go from the base of the shifter to the control rod.

Are you referring to the screw and bolt at the bottom of the shifter? I thought I tightened it pretty good.
