engine check- idle weird at morning warm up

it started 3 days ago when I first started up the car in the morning, the RPM started jumping up and down and my engine check light came on and off (doesnt stay on). once the car warms up then everything goes back to normal.

I also noticed my idles much higher at 1100RPM even after driving around town for 10 min and will only go back down if I re-start the engine. and whenever I get off the highway after having the RPM staying at 3000+, the car will idle very high at 1100rpm for a while.

what would be the prblem? Throttle position sensor? I just replaced my oxygen sensor 2000miles ago.
I am curretnly using NGK6097 plugs and they are about 1000miles old.

why not check the codes that will give you a hint of what is wrong. either the dealer or mkiv.com has the procedure to do it. if you have an obdII then the hints may even be more specific. David

yeh I should get it checked, but I doubt its something harmful, probably just a sensor, thats why I wanna ask you guys and see if I can figure out whats wrong before spending that $100 for"diagnosis" of Toyota.
