hey guys, i have a super white mkiv and i was told by ppl that it had a clearcoat, then i read in these forums that it doesn't, and i recently bought a polish and buffer because the person at the store told me to use it on clearcoat painted cars to give it an extra shine. The guy said if my car doesn't have clearcoat, I should use a wax, otherwise use buffer/polish.

now my question is this: if the super white mkiv doesn't have a clearcoat on it and i use the buffer w/ polish, will it wreck the paint? like polish the paint off the surface? or can i just use it?

thx in advance

I own a super white 98tt, and I use a Porter Cable Orbital Buffer
with no problems at all. I think my car is clear coated or some kind of single stage with clear mixed in. I have used the pc on the car from day one, and have seen great results. Just watch the edges and let the product and weight of the machine do the work. Hope ths helps.

yah that helps, my buffer is very light-duty and is cordless and it's not that powerful, so i think i'll be ok
i haven't tried using it yet

Supra white is not clearcoated (at least not the 93-96's, but probably the 97-98's arent either). You can buff clearcoated paint and single stage (enamel) paint the same way with high speed buffers.
