The flip flops thing was one of the first things I noticed as well.

The lean back is for "slow fire" standing position shooting at national match competitions....not everyone does it, but it is common.

The forward lean position most people are used to seeing by tactical operators does not work in slow fire competition target shooting. Try standing in a forward tacticool lean for 10mins with a 9lb 1903 rifle, and youll understand why some competition shooters will lean back or stand in a up right straight position.

Sounds like someone needs to hit the gym. My AR15 runs over 15lbs fully loaded and I stand in my 'tacticool' lean a helluva lot longer than 10min. I'm sure Chris and Travis are getting ready to correct these guys and tell them they should be getting their gangsta lean back on.

You do know this is National Match Competition Shooting I am talking about. Not assault training on clearing small towns. A forward lean does not work so well when shooting at ~400 yards in a competition. The pic you posted is obviously one of running and gunning.

Anyways...there is a time, place, and situation for both types of shooting positions. Never have I stated the forward lean is wrong...an up right position is used in national match is all I am saying(which is easy to prove), but I guess you(and your claim of Chris Costa) believe that is wrong. I guess you just know of one type of shooting position and think that works for every situation under the sun.

Nope, I know if several and standing is the last one I want to be doing but if I'm standing I'm sure as hell not going to be leaning back like that. But whatever floats your boat.

I'm 6'1" big boy with long ape arms. If I stood and held a Springer 1903 the same way I hold one of my AR15s at the range, I would fall forward and form a human isoceles triangle. The problem isn't the weight of the 1903, but the fact that the weight is wayyyyy forward. Makes a damned good lever.

...and, yes, many long-range competition shooters using long-barreled rifles shoot from a stance similar to hers.
