Well, the 7M is bolted in and wired up (I think). All connections are there. The engine will turn over, but not start. We cranked it for a while to build pressure but that didn't help. I could smell a little fuel and both EFI relays were kicking on and the fuel pump turned on as well. I am using the 5M fuel pump with the MKII fuel relays and such. Any ideas? The motor has been sitting for a few months now. Thanks in advance....

Have you pulled a code? Hopefully, something simple is wrong. Not sure if we can help especially with a 7mgte swap into a mk2 which everyone seems to do differently.

7m in mkii - not exactly an easy swap, we did one into an 85 mkii so my knowledge is slightly different from what you need. My car uses a walbro 255hp pump run through the mkIII harness and rc 550- injectors w/ a lexus AFM.
However, did the motor run fine when pulled from the mkIII car?
The reason I ask is that AFM can become fouled easily and will keep your motor from running - also does your afm have the karman vortex generator in place (chicken wire-mesh thing behind air filter) if it is not there your motor may not run at all.
Do you have spark at all 6 plugs?
Find a mechanic's stethoscope and place it on one of the fuel injectors to determine if they are opening at all. For the initial install I used T - taps to splice into my wiring harness and one of the connectors barley scraped the insulation off of the wire, so no connection was made and the injectors did not open at all. We spent one week chasing down this problem. if this is your issue check the wiring near the battery, can't remember exactly which plug though.
Spray starting fluid on the air filter or into the throtle body and try to start - if it starts and runs for a short while, you have a fuel delivery problem. If it starts and runs fine, then your cold start injector may be bad. If it does not start, check timming and spark related items, or try swaping your afm with a mkIII guy who has a good running car.
Hope this helps, if not pm me or maybe I can call you and walk you through somethings I did.

Thanks for the help. It turns out I didn't have any power going to the igniter. LOL I guess you need that huh. The runs just fine with the 5M fuel pump and relays, later I will move to a more powerful pump. I think my differential is junk though. Oh well, it's fun:D

3 basic things to check for and narow the problem little...
1st pull a plug wire and check for spark...
2nd check fuel pressure... ( unbolt the cold start and see if it is pressurized...
3rd check injector pulse....(use noid light or LED) make sure you have the polarity right on the LED cause it wont light up...
Let me know what isnt working I will tell you what to check next... =)
Does the car just turn over or it tryes to fire and dies?
