nice man! what kinda lag are you expecting with that setup?

With .81 a/r it shouldn't be that bad of lags.

yeow. that will be a lag MONSTER. especially on the 1J. that and the T72 is a poor match for a 3L engine....i haven't done the math for a 2.5, but i can imagine it will be even worse. expect MAJOR surging @ low boost (<20 psi).....

Can you even close the hood with that monster installed?! :->...

Wow man, good luck with that beast :) .
Your 1JZ is going to be one of the biggest power makers around now.

I've heard people talk about turbo surge before now, but have no real idea what it is! Is it along the lines of your boost surging up and down because there's not enough exhaust to stabilise the turbine speed or something?

Yikes.... that is a sweet turbo... but on a 1J? Why? Dunno... to me the beauty of the 1J is the WIDE power band... stock twin turbos online around 2200 rpm... pulling all the way up the revs... 4000+rpm of boost range was why I went twins myself for track use.
I am curious to see what it does though! Good luck! I have been curious to see what the 1J's can do with a big single vs. the 2J's. Congrats! :)

It has been a popular upgrade in Japan to run the Greddy T-78 to pull out the high hp potential of the JZ motors. I now can inform you that the T-72, 70, or even a T-76 in Ball-Bearing or conventional will spool hard. However, it may require the use of Nitrous Oxide to spool it earlier.

Very nice, but I always thought the 1jz was more about the wide powerband and "smooth" boost. Like people have said, it feels like a bigger engine because the boost subtly kicks in, unlike the 7m. That thing's gonna smack you in the face and insult your mama once it spools! :D Good luck with it!

Thanks for all the comments.
Making this turbo spool is not the problem, trying to make it fit in there is what i'm worried about;)

looks like fun :) Are you fabricating a manifold? When is is gonna be done? Getting a rollcage while you're at it? We should have some good races this summer :)

Yeap, I'll be making my own manifold. Also if you guys change your mind about your turbo and want to go bigger, I can also make one for you too:D
I hope I'll be done by April or May.

Give me a holler if you need any help with the manifold. I've helped with a couple before. I have some really useful resources.
