Rings And Bearings? Stock or Aftermarket?

Hi everyone! I'm in the middle of rebuilding my 7mge and was wondering if it's ok to use aftermarket rings and bearings or should I stick with stock toyota parts? The main bearings are at .002 of an inch and the rod bearings are at .003 of an inch, can I get away without doing the main bearings too? Another thing the block deck is at .003 of an inch, should it be milled or not? any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Do the whole thing. Don't spare anything while it's apart. You can skip the mains, but that's your choice. As far as the parts are concerned, the toyota rings and the toyota bearings are fantastic. But, I guess that also depends on what kind of power you want to make. Stock is best though, for under 500HP.

    Thanks for the input!

Thanks for the input! I really appreciate it! I guess I might as well do the mains while I'm at it. The engine was over hauled in 98' and who ever did it used after market US made rings and bearings and they're already at .003 of an inch, is that normal? I don't know what the japanese bearings are like so I think I'll use the stock toyota parts to be safe. One more thing I finally had a chance to check out the pistons, they're all in good shape accept for one, it looks like it was rubbing on something. I saw wear just above the top ring on one side of the piston, any ideas? Measurements will be taken tomorrow, should know more after that.

    Thanks again!
