Have everyone tried the N/A 2jz ge seal newer 2000+ version? On my country we have the toyota crown, same 2jzge vvti engine, the seal from toyota dealer for this engine fit my 94 2jzgte it was a different colour than the stock replacement one I bought from the US dealer some time ago and that popped out on BPU, right now I am doinng 750RWHP and no troubles at all, all my pcv ventilation is to going to atmosphere trough a catch can...

Check and see if thereīs a difference, maybe toyota has the answer for the newer models

If the above fixes the problem I'd really be interested in an OE solution rather than an unknown...

i don't think that's it at all.. i just think the problem is the availability of an oil pump that we can ship to you so you can work on it...

i wouldn't mind a seal retainer one bit.

I have put Toyota OEM seal with shorter spring (about 1 cm) and used three very little screws to hold seal in its place - works perfect for last half a year> Before I lost my seal five times even with new oil pump, my rev limiter is set at 8500 rpm

    Take care!

I have used three little screws with flat heads which holds seal in its place.

Take a look at attached pic, red spots are screws

that is a good way to do it. You could use an M2.5 tap, and use M2.5 screws with washers. You'll never lose that screw. Just make sure to use a drill stop on your bit and also loc-tite the screws in place. This is a good, solid solution.

by the way, when doing this, you should drill your tap holes 120 degrees apart, and be sure to leave enough meat on the aluminum that you will not break thru when you tap (break thru to the seal surface). I'd suggest a cleaner approach using the screws and a sheetmetal plate that I could have laser cut, but button head cap screws with washers will work just as well (though it won't be quite as perty).

When should you replace the FMS?? I am switching blocks/cranks but my front seal was just redone 1000miles ago, by SP and they have done the same thing Peter has, drilled the screws into it..... i really dont want to take it apart, when i know its not leaking... but if its a bad idea, i dont want to do that either any advice??

1k miles is very little usage of a seal. Use it at least 60k miles and change your timming belt and seal together.

change it when it fails. It seems that failure happens to new ones for no good reason, so if its working, leave it alone.

Still need a pump to fart around with? I'm doing so with the extras we have here, since I never throw anything out! Cover the shipping and it's yours.

I have one, but I think the best fix is the three screws at 120 deg apart around the seal....

Help, I think my FMS went again.................. 3rd stock one in 6 months.

So does the one from AutoZone take care of the problem? Do i still need the screws if I get the B/A one from AutoZone?

What's everyone's experience after all these times???

    Thanks in advance!

    Chris

One solution for all (with the exception of the before mentioned oil drainage problem ??), BETTER CRANKCASE VENTILATION!! seals are seals not gaskets or o-rings, seals are not made to hold pressure they are just made to hold oil from leaking, think about how much pressure it takes to install the seal in the first place, not much, any supra with over 500hp in my opinion needs additional crankcase ventilation, equation is simple, more hp = higher cylinder pressures = more blow-by the pistons, the higher you go the more crankcase pressure produced, the extra pressure has to go somewhere and it aint though those tiny factory pcv valves, thats for sure,.

    Thatīs exactly what I think.
On the C5īs on high hp it blows out the oil didpstick...on the Supra the front main seals let go.

The only thing is....will big breather filters be enough or do we need to reroute to the air intake right bevore the turbo to suck that pressure out.....

Would be cool to find a solution to drive our 6 speeds on high hp and rev to 9000rpm without blowing that damn seal.

I donīt like the idea getting hot air and oil into then intake....but better than loosing the front main seal every now and then......

MRMechanical...if you cannot post your picture, it would be nice to send me them to fastcars@kabsi.at.......I would be interested to see how you did yours....and I take it, that you donīt have seal problems with your setup?
How much hp do you have?
To what rpms do you rev your engine?
    Thanks.

I had much better crankcase ventilation than OEM and still had a problem with front seal! Only solution is screws with OEM seal (seal should have shorter spring)
