You can buy a new lock mechinism from one of the Toyota guys mentioned in the other thread... I think it's a little over $50. I have one laying around, waiting to be put in.

oh yeah, haha. Mine is rounded too. I just use the hex tool at a slight angle to unlock it.

I leave mine unlocked because its rounded so bad, haven't had any troubles with it, just make sure they're nice and tight .

can you hit it with a dremel and use a flathead? im not a targa owner, but that may do it?

it's not a bolt... it's a hex-shaped hole, so you we use a hex bit to unlock it.

getting a dremel in that hole would be a problem too... you'll probably have to disassemble the targa. If that's the case, might as well get a new lock!

my wife and me have the same problem but we have it on all the front three bolts. it's not only the middle bolt. I just use a bigger hex tool and it works for me, but i know one of these days i'm going to have to replace them somehow i really don't know how i would replace them so if anybody knows the part number and how to please give us some info.

no, it just nice to have to place the top on and then be able to lock it down easily for parking. when ever you put on the top you need to tighten down all the points if your going to drive, but the middle one is just a lock, it does not hold on the top

im telling you some needle nosed plyers
