That is an amazing link! I am looking at doing this importation of cars in a little bit and there were a few things in that page that i didn't even know.
The title MUST be left at US customs for 3 days before the car can leave the country, the original not a copy. Which can be a pain if you don't live near the border.
You don't pay anything on the US side, but back in canada you'll have to pay 7% GST, 6.1% if a non-US built car, ~$100 A/C tax, $180 for the canadian compliance inspection (usually just adding daytime running lights and baby harness bolt), plus safety, emissions, provincial tax & plates. Budget to add ~25% to the sticker price of the car, plus currency conversion of course.
It's a big PITA, but not rocket science.
If anyone has specific Q's just post and I'll try to help.
hah and here i was thinking i had found GREAT deals for a supra in the US... man 25% brings it almost to the same price as local SUpras... except i like the moded and non winterized supras of US better
Does anyone know any good shipping company that I should use when I am importing my Supra , I just sold my FD and am defiantly in the market in shipping up a supra . Thanks guys.
