    Whose running the AEM EMS?

I'm highly considering going standalone after realizing how much I'll have into piggybacks. My only concern is tuning. It has to be reliable but I'm not too excited about dropping all that money into tuning it just so it can start normal. I've heard tuning it for WOT ins't very hard, it's just the drivability. What else is needed if I go with the EMS? Also how much does a base tune typically run? Thanks in advance.

I think this post would better be answered over at the "MKIV Modifications" or something. I don't think there are many NA-T's running AEMs as much as the TT's which is a more broader community anyways. Us NA's aren't producing that much power to need the use of a standalone, well most of us

Or I may just be referring to myself alone

I got it, so does DaveH.

DaveH will have better answers for you. If he do not mind.

Was it hard to hook up? You have to run wires to the MAF sensor right? Was it hard to get it running? Thanks!

Its not difficult at all to wire in. You will have to dump your factory MAF and Install a MAP sensor and an Air temp sensor, the rest is just plug it in and start tuning. Just follow the AEM instructions to setup your sensors, start it up and set the idle. Having a wideband setup will enable you to automap your fuel tables.
You should also visit the AEM forums, they are very helpful. My 2c

I have it as well. Only thing is my driveability isnt nearly up to par. I still need to mess with it a bit more to get it going and I am tuning everything on my own with the help of some of the other NA-T guys so the process is not a short lived one. As nothing on my car has been. Anyway if your willing to spend the money or take the time out to get it moving then you should be good on the AEM, youll have much more future ability to mod as well as MANY more options for you to take for the car.

    Good Luck,

You guys might want to do a search for MegaSquirt,
it's a home built standalone EFI system.
seems pretty popluar, they have a yahoo group with like 3000 people.
They even have built units selling on ebay and cheap too (well for a standalone system)
