    Fried coupler check this out!

ok the first time i put this coupler on my turbo kit it got fried... i have the pt52 turbo with the spoolin performance i/c piping. i put the coupler on the turbo outlet to i/c piping. its about 1/2 an inch away from the manifold. thats why it melted a hole. i have since put thermal heat wrap on the manifold and bought a 500 degree coupler. hope it doesnt happen again.. is there any other way to prevent this???

were u driving normally or at wot??

mine is also close to the manifold, but i've only been light cruising and minimal turbo, but when i took off the coupler, it was soft and seemed like it was on the verge of melting if i push the car more lol

hope the wrap works well because i might need to consider that

The thermal heat wrap should definitely prevent it from happening again.

That is a sewer pipe coupler. It is not designed for high heat. Give us a call and we can get you a silicone connector piece designed for turbo applications. A silicone connector piece can be almost touching the header and it will still be ok.

well yeah its a shitty setup. the night i was installing my turbo setup it was about 2:30am and we had no silicone connector so we used that so we could fire up the car. i got a silcone one from the auto parts store the next day and put it on with hose clamps. not the best way imo. im not sure of the heat range of the silicone connector i put on there but i was hopeing it would hold up. thats way i was asking if the new one would melt, but someone answered my question... thanks... heres a pic the 500 degree silicone connector with the t-bolt clamps im going to put on...

They weren't close enough to the manifold I guess. The one connecting the turbo to the MAF broke a few times though because I had to make it bend around the radiator fan. This was before I had an elbow going around it.

haha i fucked up earlier. i went to change my oil a few hours ago. i pulled the plug and it started flowing to the drain pan but it wasnt' too close to the jack. i started talking to someone, went to push the pan closer to the jack to catch all the oil but it already started slowing down...........i dumped a good 2 quarts on the driveway

it's funny the way some people change their oil...............go to the nearest k-mart parking lot early in the morning...........pull the plug, put it in neutral........push the car forward a little bit. put the plug back in..........fill the car up........and take off that's fuckin awesome.

or how about when someone drains the oil in a pan, digs a hole in their backyard, and fuckin dumps it and burys it. hahahahaha that shit is awesome

The funny thing is I have done that... I usually jack my car up with a certain jack so i know where the oil falls... but sometimes i still miss. i like the k-mart thing though!!!
