Whenever I'm driving a manual tranny car, I almost always take my shoes off.

hmm.. I was thinking about this the other day...

my gf got me a pair of Old Navy sandals over the break this past weekend, and I've been driving/wearing them since....

I would be curious to know

Damn I can't drive without a specific pair of shoes I have on.. (girls shoes are way different from guys shoes though).. I had to move my car the other day right quick and I did it barefoot.. man I think I took 5 years off my clutch doing that shit.

I do believe the law is you have to wear shoes, though.. I don't know about sandals/flip flops, someone said it was illegal because they can get caught on the pedals.. But I never saw it in writing.

I don't think there's ANY law stating it. Cause I know alot of people who drive with out shows on, and they've been pulled over and the such.

If it is a law, it's probally like that law that says if you're under 18, you can't ride with more than 1 passenger in your vehicle. It's usually an offense that only asshole cops give out.

I was pulled over once in MA (not FL I know) and the cop said he could give me a ticket because I had slipped off my sandals and was driving barefoot. He made me put them back on and said it was impeding vehicle operation

I got pulled over for excessive acceleration and after the cop attempted to figure out why my car was still running even though I had handed him the keys, he told me to put on my shoes and exit the vehicle. No problems driving barefoot from him. Barefoot driving is really the way to go because it gives you a much better feel for the engagement of the clutch, imo. The only time I throw on my shoes is for road racing to help heel-toeing.

I just asked a cop buddy of mine and he states it is illegal to drive barefoot but anything that resembles footware is legit. He just says a lot of cops probably dont give a squat about it or notice because they are more concerned with the possibility that they might be pulling over someone dangerous or somehow place themself in a dangerous situation by pulling you over. So all you chancleteras are ok
