Has anyone tried retrofitting Rx-8 projectors? I noticed in a buddies car that their cutoff lines are pretty aggressive and sharp.

Is there any good quality replacement bulbs you can buy, that are HID-ish? Instead of having to buy the whole kit

I just ordered ddm tuning HID's, I'm hoping they look ok.

I did a E55 projector retrofit in my old car, really don't want to dremel and customize the supra's as it's so nice looking

i got the 55w 6000k DDM tuning kit for my low beams and the 35w 3500k DDM kit (i think its 3500k? idk.. its the yellow color) for my fogs. the low beam kit was p&p while some minor splicing of wires was required for the fogs. i don't have a GOOD picture of this yet, but will try to get some up. i have the euro headlights btw, so it may look a lil different than those who have this same setup on the 93-96's or the 97-98's.

what's your impressions on the kit? How's the cut off line? which kit did you get exactly, the Raptor full size kit?

I find the kit to be a pretty good deal for the price. I was a bit skeptical at first because there have been mixed reviews throughout this forum as well as in other communities. However, being from the San Diego area where DDM Tuning is located, I've heard nothing but good things from most people that have talked to me about them since many of the locals here have their kits and vouch for their quality, so I decided to go with their kits. To answer one of your questions, I went with the slim ballast kit.

Now to answer your other question. Upon receiving the package, I opened them up to find that they were in plain, generic looking boxes and that there were no instructions. Seeing as how these kits are shipped from their overseas warehouse in mainland China, I wasn't too surprised at the lack of presentation (i.e. fancy looking boxes, etc..), but I figured "What the hell.. its a $40 kit" and its pretty much Plug and Play so there's no real need for instructions (though if you've never done this before, there are plenty of videos on Youtube that will show you how easy these are to install).

The low beam kit I got, 55w/6000k, was, as I said before, plug and play. The cutoff is pretty sharp on my car compared to other projector equipped vehicles I've seen and there is very little glare.

The kit I got for the fogs, 35w/3000k was basically the same. However, the install was not plug & play. There were some minor modifications that had to be done, but there is a great writeup somewhere on this forum that will guide you step by step with pictures to wire it up.

Now as promised in my last post, here are the pics!

    both lights on.

front shot. the 55w washes out the blue in the low beams. there is still a slight blue that could be seen though.

    Nice find!

I'm curious to see what Boxtree's cutoff line looks like. New projectors might not be necessary if the cutoff line is good.

Sorry, I've been busy lately and haven't really had the time to surf the forums that much. I'll try to find a decent wall tonight on the way home and take pics of the cutoff.

Has anyone ever retro fit projectors into a MKIII? I've seen it done before, I was just wondering if anyone on here had any information on it or knows anyone who could do it?

I've noticed all the dates are fairly old in this thread. I'm just wondering if the before mentioned TL/S2k are still the current setup people are installing?
I have a dream...that one day supras and mustangs will get along. But then I wake up and remember im a supra owner, and I laugh

I have searched for the answer to this question with no luck. I am pretty sure it has been answered before and I am almost sure the answer, so rather than post a new thread...
Just to be certain as I am ordering OEM retrofit HID projectors---
Is there no way to utilize the OEM supra projectors and change out the lens? Or do the projectors need to be removed (obviously $30 ebay kits are out of the question here--I am looking for the real deal)
I see the lenses for sale alone (tsx-r) for example. Is there no way to salvage our halogen projectors and change the lens to suit HID's?

Looks like Ascari answered this question here:
"For anyone that's wondering exactly what was done, you need to move the [D2s] HID bulb 4.4mm into the projector compared to where 9006 bulbs sits. That is essentially all that was done."

From what I've researched the stock supra projectors will work, but the cut-off line is not as defined
