Sub box threads (look here first please)

The point of this is to cut down on the number of people asking for sub box pictures and advice. If there are other helpful links to sub box threads, please fee free to post the link.

I didn't see what I was looking for when I was looking for this type of built in enclosure for the MK3, so I thought I would post a couple of pics. The bolt in the center is apporimately 7" long and "holds" the bottom of the spare tire mounting bracket tight since I am using the car as the bottom of the enclosure. Ended up with about 2.5 to 2.8 cu ft.

Everything was removed from the spare tire's compartment.
The box was made for 2x 11"inch subs and 2x amplifiers so they were on the same level as floor was in stock. Completely flat for easy hockey bag transportation and for the roof to fit.

    Front: Focal 130KR 5 1/8"inch (w tweeters)
    Back: Focal 165KR 6 1/2"inch (coaxial)
    Subwoofer: 2x Focal P27v2 11"inch
Amplifier: Alpine PDX m6 and Alpine PDX f4
We also did the sound isolation of front doors, both side walls all the way back to the trunk and the trunk itself. No floor.

The custom sub box started making squeaky sounds after a year of driving around. I assume this is due to very bad roads in here and car being flexed and twisted cuz of it it really pisses me of when there's no music playing.

Sounding quality of the set up is good, loud too, but i wish there was more base up front as the new cars have these days.
If you take off the targa and shut all the doors supra becomes a huge speaker with really good base which is fun to drive around

Nice. I think you bought this from a friend of mine in Stockholm?

Is that your car when it was registered in Sweden?
Does the hockeybag fit in the trunk?

Haha yes, you're right! This one used to be John's supra
And yes, hockey bag does fit in even after installing these subs and amps

great job. i like how that box does not take up the entire hatch area. would love to see a fiberglassed box of the same size made to fit in the same area

^^ Thanks. That box is half fiberglass (the curvy bits) and half wood, covered in carpet. These guys do some really nice all-fiberglass work too.
