Black Cherry Pearl Paint job finally done!

Along with everything else. We now have a perfectly running 87' n/a with everything working perfectly except for the (nonexistent for now) stereo.

A little spot wetsanding to fix a few clearcoat runs

Uhh, yeah the clip for the front mudguards kinda broke....

Yes, we put the turbo spoiler on it. What can I say, it looks good to me

    Oh shiiiit overspray!

Sooo nice to actually be able to drive this car after working on it for most of the summer . I <3 this car.

Now I gotta ask my dad which car he wants to keep at home and which I get for school. Its between this and my accord (shh you guys, I like my honda too, and its faster than this :-p)

Nice color. As always the camera doesn't catch the true effect of the pearl under that cherry color

Nah, its just the stock Black Cherry Pearl color from the Lexus/Toyota/Scion line. Saw it on a tC and I thought to myself "Ooo that looks coooooooool". That sold us on that color ^_^

No its a dark cherry red and the pearl lets it stand out well under direct sunlight.. The shots looked like you had an overcast and thats why. the camera will also have a hard time picking the pear up as well. It's an awesome color i have mixed and sold alot of it(dupont).
Looks beautiful in the sun!! I bet it looks good!

that looks awesome. Give it 2 weeks then take a buffer to it. You think it looks like a mirror now after buffing you'll be dressing yourself outside looking into ur paint. I know of some good 3m stuff that you can use and not burn thru the paint. it's been a while since i have done any buffing but i remember 1 of the 2 compounds you use. perfect 3000 swirl remover u use last with the white pad iirc and the other stuff u use with the black pad. Once i remember i'll probably correct myself. But that 1 compound is what you're going to need and the black and white pad. Just gotta remember the other one..
I give props to people that do their own paint jobs! It's not really hard but if anyone would like to get started you can go buy a cheap gravity feed gun for 100.00-110.00 at the MOST. some are cheaper. And get some cheap paint. Maybe something like a pint of Nason Ful-basecoat with a qaurt of nason reducer 441-21(depending on temp) and a pint of basecoat activator 483-30 nason..... Get some cheap urethane primer like autobody masters, Its real good primer. a qaurt of that and a pint of the catalyst. also a qaurt of cheap autobody masters urethane clear(qaurt) with catalyst(pint). no more then 25.00 for the 2.
Go buy a cheap but good dent free hood from the junk yard. PRACTICE. once you get the hang of it you'll be suprised how easy it is. There might be a few other things you would want to buy such as sand paper and what not to sand the hood or surface first but if ya have any other questions just ask. Sorry to jack the thread.
But +1 to you for doing it urself! I did mine myself as well.

Way ahead of ya. I got some DACP and a Porter Cable, after getting a friend to use a rotary on it. Still doesnt meet my standards, since there are some fuckups on the paint. But its good enough for the next couple years till I make this thing my track car :-D

Is the brake light lens on the spoiler cleared out, or just not there at all? Looks good by the way (paint that is).

Eeep. Forgot to put the lens on before snapping the pic, had to replace the bulb.

    Thanks for the complement though
