Can't say I'd trust one, but our market continues to expand. Someone have at it and let us know how long till it breaks or not.
Wonder what the gear ratio is....

We are going to all donate $10 via paypal to Adam H. (drjones) for a OBX LSD. I'll keep updating this list and as long as we have enough people to make it worth-while, we'll all forward the $$$$. Adam's job will then be to beat the shit out of it and try to break it which we all know he is capable of. (along with a write-up regarding qualitt/fit/finish/etc)
OBX claims a lifetime warrenty against manuf defects, I'm not sure if that covers high hp mk3's but I guess we'll try to find out.
So in order to run this LSD we need at the least to source jza70 Stubs? that bit defeats the purpose of an affordable LSD dosnt it?
i wonder if OBX would be willing to retool for the MA70 Diff configuration - highly unlikely i guess?

Well after we overnited some parts from Okinawa! haha just kidding!
We installed the JZA70 stub shafts which are longer as Dr J informed. Still a problem with the snap ring groove. The stub axles do engage into the snap ring grooves but the seal surfaces stick out too far and do not allow the seal to ride on the stub shaft. In my opinion it can be fixed with some machining. The other problem this makes is that the stub axles push out further on each side make the overall width from axle flange to axle flange to be approximately 1/4" to 3/16" wider. This could be a prblem when you are trying to get the CV shafts bolted back in. I am going to purchase some new seals and offset them on the housing to get engagement with the stub shafts and we are going to attempt to bolt this thing in and maybe get a couple of street pulls as I do not think we are going to make it to Sacramento Raceway today due to the problems. Will keep you posted and hopefully have some video to post later. Thanks.
Well so far it seems that even if it can hold the power it isnt worth it anyway. Being that its $450 and a good name brand diff is about $800- 900 by the time you get this one to work the difference wont be that much. Great info so far guys. Cant wait to hear what this thing does at the strip
Seeing as this is a "new"product (unless it was originally built for some other application) it must be intended for the US market, I don't see why they wouldn't make the design changes needed to fix the issues. Hopefully they haven't produced too many of these already. Then again we haven't even stress tested this one yet, so there might not be any reason to fix the dimensional problems if it can't take the power.
do you have proof that it is a REAL TRD unit? do you know what version it is (T-1, T-2, etc.)? i've heard rumors that they made one, but after i dug into it, i came up that it wasn't true- some just thought they got a "TRD" one when in reality it was just a JZA70 T-1.
They couldn't even design a pillar pod to fit properly on our cars; how in the hell can you expect them to design something even a little more complex.

Well kind of like their twin turbo 7m manifold, an EXACT replica of the Greddy unit with Mitsubishi 3 bolt flanges. Which is TOTALLY retarded because those TD whatever turbo's are SO DAMN hard to find in GOOD condition. Hence the reason I did not go for the TT set up.
I should of known OBX was going to copy the JZA70 diff. I get a set of OBX cam gears in this week ( possibly tommorow) I will see how those fit
OBX
Looks like a flop and waste of time.
We will be sending the unit back and not moving forward with this project.
More problems than what it is worth and no positive feedback from OBX.
I don't think they care.
I will refund Dr J. and he can refund anyone elso who contributed to this project. I think there was only like two other people.
Jeff
Edit: Refund Completed
