Do NOT Buy from Tiger Japanese!!!

Im gona keep this story just to facts so you all dont have to read alot but heres the jist. I buy a motor from Tiger Japanese and like all of us dont have IMMEDIATE time to install it right away. So after 3 months of my doing my swap we get it cranked over to hear a knocking. Alright just blew 3 months of time plus more money so i call Tiger. Reponse is "we will not warrenty it since you did not buy a start up warrenty" I said "start up warrenty no one asked me to buy one" he said to bad you should have asked ill try to get you some money for it to repair it but basically your out of luck. I get a response a week later "were sorry to inform you we cannot refund you any amount thanks for doing business" and was SCREWED. Long story short, I rebuilt the engine to race and was SOL of a car for 6 months!!! Here are some pictures of there "50,000" mile engines!!! Just so you all can SEE for yourself there shit engines. Im glad i didnt use the engine! Look at the horrible quality and lies of miliage!

sucks man, but isn't 1600 dollars a little cheap for an entire engine? shouldn't that alone set off some alarms?

    Damn,
Thats messed up because I bought my GTE from Tiger Japan in January 2007. My motor was slated for a complete teardown and rebuild anyways, but I will agree that the parts I removed were covered with barnicles. I spoke to a few reputable 2JZ shops and they concurred that the crud on the head internals was due to running low octane fuel.

I was also never informed of a startup warranty.

    Things I did:

Stripped the head, Stripped the block, Hot tanked both

Rebuilt the head with good USDM valves, shims, buckets from a 20K IS300 motor, with Crower Springs and Retainers.

Rebuilt GTE block with new bearings and pistons etc etc.

I cant imagine the logic behind these resellers, do they expect us to buy the motor and put it in in 24hrs without checking things out while its out of the car?

Those motors look like they been thru the wringer!!!!! 100K +

Sorry to hear about your ordeal

I got my motor from them in 3days delivered to my home. problem is with all used parts anyone can say anything. How will you ever tell if a motor had 30K or 50K on it?

Im glad I did a complete rebuild. it cost me $1800 delivered. way cheaper than buying a complete used USDM GTE here. I invested about $1000 in parts into the motor thru Curt and I have a clean new no mileage motor now for the price of those used US GTE's on the market.

It's all about the route you want to take doing your rebuild/swap.

I just had the same problem with a 4G63 we just swapped for a customer, he got the motor from them directly, the internals look like they have 200k miles on them. Plus every sensor was bad.

I was going to do business with Tiger Japanese but heard a few bad stories and decided to buy my GTE from RNDFacotry based off of positive reviews I received from others on their engine testing and service. They were pretty easy to do business with, but I have yet put the engine in so I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that nothing goes wrong when the time comes to start her up.

The days of low mileage clean JDM motors is coming to an end.

Lately it seems Importers are sending us junk, I guess all of the good motors have already been imported here. Now its whatever they can assemble with spare parts. When you start seeing wrong valve covers held on by 1 bolt and different year sensors its easy to tell.

at least do a compression & leakdown test and do the timing belt /water pump, yank off the valve covers take a look while replacing the gaskets.

I only paid $1550cnd with delivery for engine, wiring harness and ecu

that does suck man, i though the startup warranty was included with ever engine they sell?

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I have'nt heard of Tiger Japanese before untill now. But I know now about there crapy business. I'm also in the middle of rebiulding a spare motor. I bought all my parts here from reputable members. It is taking me some time but so far I have spent $550 for the short block, just need to put it togather.

I know... I was referring to a now LIKE NEW motor with zero miles. as opposed to a used USDM GTE with 60-80K-100K on it.
