I used to do the Gym thing but ended up reinjuring my joints (broken every bone, cept my legs at least twice)
Weights just put too much hurt when I was curling or pressing. My elbows just snap crackle and pop on every curl.

Anyone else have similar problems or suggestions ?

Definitely, but typically not as much. I may take as many in, but I will make them a bit weaker with regard to the protein:milk ratio.

I'm back up to 200.5 pounds by the way, and feeling a lot better about my training as of late. I found a machine at my new gym that I thought was forever lost to me (seated dip) and it is such a phenomenal pump. It's like being reunited with a long lost lover!

If you are fat/water concious then I would add 200-300 calories to your maintence for a week or so, then add calories as needed until you get the results you desire. If you just want to gain mass as fast as possible, add 500-1000 and then go from there.

Always use the greatest amount of cals to cut with, and the lowest amount of cals to bulk with.

Using that formula your maintenance cals come out to be 3225 cals per day. Are you trying to cut up or gain mass?
I'd like to bulk up a bit more and then start cutting back in may. Now that I am monitoring my caloric intake and protein intake I'm expecting pretty good results.

My joints make some wierd noises from skateboarding for a long while, started taking glucosamine/chondroitin to help.

    It should help.

Glucosamine/chondroitin is indeed usually in pill form.

your tricep muscle nearest to your elbow is weak. I had th same problems. I just took it easy and slowly worked my way up on weights and it toughened out eventually. Like all exercises, if youre new to it or your muscle is weak in that area, you either stop completely or start really light even if it means using girl weights for now

magicsupra721, I've been experiencing the same type of pain when performing skull crushers. I'm worried that it might have something to do with the ligaments right above my elbow.

It's not a throbbing pain, more of a piercing pain that occurs when I flex the muscle during workout.

Just don't push through actual pain like that. Let it heal.

I had tendonitis in my elbow for a while from hockey, sounds a lot like what you guys are describing.

Mine's calcium deposits from all the healed bones. Just never will seem to go away. In my elbows, neck, ribs etc...

I wouldnt push through any pain at all, unless its muscle fatigue. Any kind of tendon or ligament pain will only come back to haunt you later in life if you continue to just push through it.

definetely do so, BUT if you are literally experiencing PAIN, then i'd suggest you back off and once healed, look for an alternate exercise. Lot of novices to skull crushers experience this type of pain when they go too heavy or just have bad elbows or lig's in general.

pushing through fatigue == almost as good as orgasm.

dont know why, but i just like the feeling of my arms/abs/legs being totally used up, and the day after too.

kind of on topic, any exercises using freeweights to bulk up the teres major? my right is like 3x the size of my left. recently ive been doing a few exercises of my own (weights in hand at hips, arms extended, keeping arms extended raise the weights out away from you towards the side until head level, then slowly lower). i dont know any names of exercises and never go to the gym >.<

We all know pushing through fatigue is orgasmic, why do you think you see so many guys at the gym. we're all having a big self-orgy in a huge room. pretty sick huh hahaha. Watch "pumping iron" with arnold and see what he says about working out. He claims working out is like cumming. So since he works out multiple times a day and at home as well. He's cumming at home, he's cumming at the gym, he's cumming day and night.

if youre trying to bulk up your teres major using lateral raises, youre doing the wrong exercise.

Wide-grip pull ups are your best friend on this 1. you could also do the "yates pull" named after dorian yates with heavy weights11

hahaha, i saw that video too, pretty funny.

yeah, i read about wide grip pull ups, but i dont have a pull up bar anywhere. except at walmart, where i can use one of the water lines running along the ceiling in lower bay as a bar...which i do when i close up the shop *grins*

but eh, ive seen somewhat of a response from those. i mostly do those for my deltoids, which i take pride in.

are we mixing lats and delts?

If you're seeing more response from delts from wide grip pull ups, that's pretty weird

I think you are mixing the delt and lats
    Delts are the shoulders
    Lats are the teres major

Excellent news broski. Dips are excellent, I usually superset them with skullcrushers or close grip bench. Hits my tri's pretty nice.

So I guess my question for you is, were you gaining at all when you were consuming 2700 cals? If you use my calculation that would put you at about 400 below maintenance. Just curious to see what was workin out for you bro.
