i did that upgrade as well...... worth the money
This wasnt new correct?
No sir, I bought everything from a local junkyard in very good condition!
I repainted them with caliper paint as a temporary fix maybe that is why they look cleaner than they would.
Also, the rotors were turned as well at the local auto shop for 20.00 I forgot to add that!
Sweet, this will be my next step on my car...

What year ls400 and is this upgrade only for the front or can also be done to the back
Hey there, looks like the 2 of us are going through the same ideas on our NA's. Suspension and brakes are next on my list, and the Gixxer_Drew suspension is what I have decided to go with. Brakes I was going to just go TT brakes, how do these LS400's compare with the stock TT's? Also I need to get with you on some of the better salvage yards around here, it's been years and years since I have hit the yards and I don't know which ones are the best to go to anymore.

aren't ls400 brakes the same as TT brakes? or is that the point, that they're the same but cheaper than recon'd TT brakes?
You can either keep them (shave) or take them off (I took mine off).
WORD UP!
Mine are off a 1998 Lexus LS400 and I am not to sure about the rears but why bother? You can run smaller wheels for drag purposes.
The only real thing I can think of is that you are limited to options with the LS400 kit versus the TT BBK. There are only so many types of rotors/pads.
Braking is exceptionally increased and the pedal feels so much smoother.
I just went to www.car-parts.com and negotiated a little with them on the prices and it was a done deal.
Good Luck!
Yes, they are both 4-piston BBK. As you can see from my prices its a HELL of a lot cheaper and going with TT kits. If you can snab a good deal on TT fronts then JUMP ON THEM.
This is the alternative route.

hey man, are the rotors the same size as the TT rotors?
if so i have a pair of TT rotors for the fronts sitting at my house, if i can just pick up a set of calipers from a ls400 i should be good to go

hmm.. ok
well if anyone finds out the diameter of the ls400 rotor please let me know.
my car is in the body shop getting new paint so i have some time to get these parts
ah, ok.
no biggie, so i'll just have to get a set of ls400 rotors.
think the junkyard will trade me?![]()
anyone got any info on the disc thickness of the LS brakes. If the discs where the same thickness as the TT discs you could use the larger TT discs with LS calipers as long as you had the appropriate caliper bracket
i did this upgrade last year definitely a great way to go big brake without having to spend more money on a TT setup. also the LS brakes weigh less then the TT's

Racing brake 2-piece rotors (aka discs) are now offered for the 1995-2000 Lexus LS400 front brakes. LS400 calipers are lighter than supra TT calipers, so you get lighter brakes (w/ the 2-piece RacingBrake open slot rotors) AND practically (imo) the same braking performance since the LS400 brakes are 4 piston and very similar in size to the supra TT brakes. Anyone that's driven or ridden in my car has always said "your brakes are awesome!" I currently use 1995 front LS400 front brake calipers with oem-spec rotors.

Here is what the disc section of the LS400 version looks like:

The hats are still being developed as we speak, but it will be available very soon. The above brake rotor is 14.8lbs and the LS400 version will be a similar weight. This is considerably lighter than the OEM LS400 or Supra TT brake rotors...considering the fact that it's decreasing unsprung weight makes it even better
