Hi!
I thought as many other out there that I wanted to start a tread about my project going on...
Actually I did not imagine that I this project would take this long, but I guess this is what tuning is, right?
Anyway, I did import a 1993 N/A Supra from Tokyo, Japan in 2006. Actually I did order the car in novemer 2005 but didn`t get my baby to Norway until mid summer of 2006.... Then it took about 3 months to get it registered. So in October 2006 I had my car on the road here in Norway.... FINALLY!! I was stunned about the car and everything was a dream come true!!!
Here is a picture of my car in Tokyo. The first picture I saw before I decided to buy it....
Bought new Rims:
I did get to drive it for a couple of month, before the first snow flakes landed in desember. I parked the car at a friends house for the winter.
That`s when I started dreaming of going turbo, and started to collect some money. I sold my 2005 YZF R1 to get some money to start off with...
Then I started doing some research to find someone that had all the parts I wanted to install in my ride. Alot of people told me to contact Dusty at MVP for further details about how to get thing settled...
I contacted Dusty and told him what I wanted... Actually I told him I wanted around 400-500 Rwhp, and that he had to come up with the parts I needed. He gave me a list of parts to start with:
Boost Logic Stage 2 Turbo Kit: $5,099
Blitz Blow Off Valve: $192
Blitz BOV Flange: $32
RPS Max Clutch with Street disc or 6-puck Disc: $409.66
Fidanza lightweight flywheel: $395
Small replacement parts for clutch: $111.82
Blitz SBC Spec R Electronic boost controller: $439
PHR EGR Block off Plates: $90
Greddy 60mm Boost gauge with Peak Hold and Warning: $192
Innovate Motorsports Air fuel gauge kit: $399.95
MVP Dual A-pillar pod, complete pillar replacement: $85
HKS Type 0 Turbo timer: $85
Turbo timer harness: $15
I paid about 8000 for this starter shipped to my adress in Norway!
Then the work started early January 2007. I had talked to a relative of mine to install all the parts. I had no idea how to do this at this moment since I`m not familar with the supra.... at this moment... ;-)
I wanted to go with stock bottom, since I have heard that this will hold enough for my project. I don`t have many pictures about the firs install but here`s what I got:
That`s actually the pictures I have from the first build.... first.... more to come.... more to break... buhu....
Well, I have never droven a Turbo car before and I really believe I screw up the hole thing the first test run...
We did miss couple some vacuum hoses, and I did boost 35 psi the FIRST run and MY FIRST try with a turbo car... Clever....
I don`t believe this did mess up my engine, but I believe it helped it on its way...
I got my car to a tuner who did "rough" tune/map it so I could use my car that weekend. i had a appointment to a professional tuning company the week after....
So I started driving my car at a saturday at 12 midday and 3 hour later smoke did come out of the hood etc.... I had VERY fun these 3 hours, but this was the start of alot of money on new parts...
