Unlock my car with key and ALARM sounds... WTH?

So just recently when i went out to hop in the Soup and go for a drive as i unlocked it the Alarm went off...

I CAN unlock it from the passenger side and the alarm doesnt sound. it's getting kinda annoying having to unlock the car from the passenger side everytime though.

Any ideas what the heck is going on?

I did also notice that the door ajar light does not come one when the doors are open. the ONLY thing i did recently was replace some of the #74 LED's in the gauge cluster and jockey box... but i really dont see how that could affect anything..

    IDEAS???

Wish I could help ya, but i'm currently suffering from the same problem as well. It is definitely annoying having to walk around to the passenger side then walk back around to get in the car. I have no clue what it could be so I too need some help.

my 87 is doing the same thing.. it doesnt always NOT sound the alarm when i unlock from the passenger side either..
i've just been using the aftermarket alarm the previous owner had installed.
although its a pain when i forget and lock the doors manually then arm the aftermarket alarm, cause it arms both alarms.. (unlocking the car with the key fob with factory alarm armed sets off the factory alarm..)
*ive almost soiled myself doing that a few times.. lol

***i figure it may be something with the lock in the door, because ive tried unlocking with 3 different keys, at "varying unlock speeds" and nothing seems to work..

Theres a Plug/Sensor on the back of the lock cylinder they fall off over the years check to make sure yours is still on tight. Mine fell off on the passenger side and when i tried to unlock it from that side the alarm would sound plug the little plug back on all is well.

of all 10 mk3 Supras that i have owned, they all did this. I do what i do each time, I uninstall the factory alarm and if i plan on keeping that particular supra for a while, i will install and aftermarket alarm.

seems like alot of these threads have been started lately, after it started getting cold, could this be a cold weather issue? i might be mistaken but i think between here and "the other" forum, theres been a few ALARM threads. cold....or coincidence?

to DISARM factory alarm put key in driver side turn to lock position twice then go to passanger side and unlock. think that might have been what you ment by unlocking from passanger side but just to clarify.

Both of the MK3's I had owned both had the horns removed. So I'm guessing they once had the same problem.

    UPDATE

K well after over a YEAR of unlocking the passenger-side I found an 87 in a junkyard and took the plug/switch from the back of the lock mechanism and it looked like it was in really good shape.

I pulled the one from my car (bad) and noticed that the Right wire (Green-Blue) was broken off the plug. Good news right? Well Replaced it with the newer one, made sure that the switch would turn with the key. It did but the alarm still goes off. I did notice if i lock the door from the driver side with the key from outside the car. the Alarm light will not come on but it does lock. Below are a couple pics of the plugs.

    BAD PLUG

    NEWER PLUG

    INSTALLED

I JUST noticed, i think the newer plug only has two wires going to the plug, so not sure if thats my problem as to why it STILL doesnt work.

Side-note I got the plug for free so i wanted to try and get it just working like normal before buying an aftermarket. If i must, I'll end up getting an aftermarket with remote lock. (Any suggestions for a decent one that wont cost me a wallet full?)

You can use an aftermarket alarm with the factory alarm with no issues.

Another option is to get an aftermarket keyless entry and wire it to the lock/unlock and arm/disarm circuits. I got a kit for $10 new and the factory alarm works great. I never had a problem with the key switches before the install but I'll never have to worry about them again because when I lock the doors with the keyless it arms the factory alarm and disarms at unlock. You'll have to isolate the unlock and disarm circuits on the car side so you can't disarm the alarm by reaching in and hitting the button on the door. And I wired a keyless hatch popper with a 12v solenoid to the same keyless module

You got a keyless entry for just $10? Cause I was looking at auto page 2-way aftermarket alarm of course with keyless and other features but that's 130. Should I just get a cheap keyless entry and spend the extra 180 on other parts?

When my alarm did that, I just stuck the key in the ignition, turned it on and off awhile the alarm was blairing, and it reset everything. Never happened again.

I'm guessing the OP reset his alarm by locking/unlocking the passenger door to no avail either?

Well After i set off the alarm, put key in ignition, wont start of course cause of Start kill, BUT if i go to the OUTSIDE of the driverside, lock and then unlock it resets. As of right now. If I lock/unlock from the outside driver using key, it will lock and unlock WITHOUT setting off alarm but it wont SET the alarm. from inside i lock using door button and try and unlock with key outside, and alarm sounds. if i'm not mistaken there is kind of a way to more FULLY reset the alarm or is that not true?
