tokyo auto salon 2012!!

Anyone here attending the tokyo auto salon 2012? I will be flying out at the end of december and staying untill january 17th. Just trying to see if any forum members will be traveling from stateside or if any members located in Japan would be attending. I look forward to this trip as this is my first venture into Japan. Maybe we can get a little supraforums meet going!

My girlfriend lives an hour from Tokyo.... But she doesn't know too much about cars so she won't be there haha (aside from knowing what a supra, r32,33,34, and s14,15 are)

That's whats up Supra607, You gotta make that trip man! . My girlfriend and I are taking the pilgrimage to the motherland. We are going to checkout Top Secret and hopefully get to meet the man SMOKEY himself. We also plan on checking out upgarage, Toyota Megaweb, king buyer, and Harajuku station for some shopping. I am trying to find some known junkyards to checkout for some supra stuff. We leave the states next week! PM me with any helpful info your girlfriend might recommend like places to eat, shopping for my girlfriend, or places to see and hangout to get the full Tokyo experience! btw we will be staying in the Shinjuku area. I'll be headed back to California on Jan 5th from saitama, so I'll just miss you. Bring a good translating dictionary, international drivers license and a bunch of cash. Its not cheap getting around and eating here.

Get lots of pics. That place is huge. UpGarage is a great place to get used parts.

Thanks for the info mrjohn! and I am def going to try and meet Smokey, He is also one of my heros haha. I might even have some coverage of the auto salon. That is still in the works but I will def keep supraforums on my mind while there.

I have been browsing upgarage.jp and I havent seen alot of jza80 stuff. But we shall see what I find when I get there.

The up garage near me didn't really have much besides the same stuff you can get in the USA like exhaust and suspension, which would obviously be a pain to bring back. Sometimes you can find good deals on used electronics though like gauges and boost controllers.

yeah ive got my eyes on some defi meters, Im in Kawasaki right now. Its awsome here! i saw a r33 skyline 5mins after getting out of the airport. also saw a s15 silvia a few minuets later. alot of skylines and silvias just cruising around. Seen a clean white supra from my hotel window yesterday. Now everytime I hear n exhaust I jump up to the window to see what it is lol. I have not hit Tokyo yet. I am checking out of Kawasaki on January 2nd and heading over to Shinjuku. Once I settle into the next hotel is when I will be heading to TOP SECRET and UPGARAGE and I may try to hit SHOWA99 wich is also a junkyard type of shop. even the minivans out here are badass with rims and lip spoilers and exhausts haha.

Upgarage may be watered down now due to its popularity with tourists. I have linked up with some locals ive met here so they are showing us around the area.

heres some crappy pics. no car pics yet. I will get some better pics uploaded a little later. this is just to give yall a little taste of what its like here in Kawasaki. From what I have been told this is not a tourism area so we are just doing as the locals do. here is a pic of the shrine we went to for new years. got some cool little stuff like 'driver safety" good luck charms. It was pretty cool to bring in the new years a new way rather than just getting wasted at a club haha.

yes I think my girlfriend and I are also going to try and do a little bit of volunteer work while we are here as well. We must give back to a land that has given us so much joy with the automotive industry. without them we would have no supraforums!!!

some car pics from shinjuku. Seen 1 supra out here that i ran 2blocks to catch up with and then the pics came out crappy and blurry lol. anyways. theres lots of skylines here than anything. Only seen 2 supras. 1 was from my hotel window and I didnt have my contacts in and the 2nd is the red one that I ran like a maniac to catch up with. I am just now beginning my automotive portion of my trip so hopefully i will have lots of better pics in the next few days. STAY TUNED!

well we Hit up the Toyota history museum, toyota meageweb, Joypolis, and superautobacs yesterday. Sadly they only had 1 supra at toyota megaweb and only a handfull of cars at the history museum. there were more toy supras than real ones. is cool tho I am sure we will see more at the Autosalon and Top secret. we are going to TOPSECRET tomorw, here are some pics of Initial D at joypolis, some stuff inside autobacs, and some around toyota museum.

2JZPWRD I will tell him for you. who should I say is saying hello. he might look at me like im crazzy if i jsut say "2jzpwrd says hello". yes it is the one in CHIBA!. We called them today and they said they were closed and that tomorow would be better to swing by to see TOP SECRET and to try and catch SMOKEY there.

I have a video of that ferrari and that thing is NO JOKE! he came around the corner and I thought it was a Bike or something crazy. That thing sound sick. He revved it up for me on camera and punched when the light turned. I will post that when I get back home. I hate to say it but UPGARAGE let me down. I went to one today and it was not all that its hyped up to be. I guess I will have to find a better location. The english speaking worker helping me did not have any tips for car enthusiest visiting Japan either. 2 BIG THUMBS DOWN to that. All good tho, I am still here untill the 17th!! so I am sure I will find something cool. Auto salon on the 13-15 to get my octane overdose.
