MAP Proving Grounds, Brainerd International Raceway June 22-24th

The FULL Details can be found here: http://www.cwscc.com/MAPerformance.php

HPDE/Time Attack will be going on both Saturday AND Sunday this year.

    New for 2012:

Time Attack- Ran in typical Time Attack format. Expect 1.5-2 Hours of total track time per day. Sign up for Saturday, Sunday, or even BOTH. Using our new RFID timing system, every lap you make around the track will be timed. Times will be posted throughout the day. PG2012 Time Attack classing can befound here.

2-Session Special- Not sure if you or your car is up for a full day of high speed lapping around the 2.5mile competition Road Course, then this is for you. $80 for 40 total minutes of on track driving. Instructors available upon request at no charge.

Triple-Track-Showdown (TTS)- Prove you have the car and skill that can do it all. Combination of Drag, AutoX, & Road Course(Time Attack). More info: http://www.cwscc.com/maptts.php

Parking Lot Solo AutoX- We will be doing 2 events, one on Friday evening and another Saturday evening. Just like previous years, you simply have to show up, register, and drive. No need for working corners and picking up cones.

    -------------------------------
What is HPDE? - A lapping day (also called HPDE for High Performance Driver Education) allows you and your car on a track for several 20 minute sessions. It’s the best bang for your buck netting you the most seat time. Lapping days are an exhilarating way to test yourself and your car’s capabilities and improve your skills.

Time Attack - Time Attack is ran in the same format as the above HPDE. The biggest difference is that every lap you make is timed. This allows you to see your improvements as well as compete against other cars with simular performance. Trophies and prizes will be awarded to the top finisher of each class.

    Time Attack Classing:
The classing is primarily separated based on drivetrain. AWD, RWD, FWD. From there we separate each drivetrain class into 2 groups, Street and Unlimited. Street class is designed for street cars with interior, street legal tires (140+ treadwear), and must have headlights, taillights, turn signals, and most other things to make it street legal. Unlimited is for fully modified, stripped down, full aero, and running Racing Tires.
    -------------------------------

Pre-Registration is up. Only limited number of spots.

Who's coming? Should be the best year yet. I'm excited!!!! I will be going with my 97 Turbo and will be there the entire weekend.

I hope to see some other Supra's out at this event, even if you only do the Drag Racing stuff! (But you should do the Road course/Auto-x instead)

1badZ, Did you ever make it out to MAP this weekend? If you did, were you one of the many people who stopped to talk with me? I saw 3 other Mk4's present, one Black, one Red with no front bumper, and one Alpine Silver. Any of those yours?

No, i didnt make it. Everyone else had plans for my weekend.... Grrrrrr i hate when that happens. Though i did happen to run across the silver supra on the highway while in my supra... we did acouple sprints, with him running in race trim, (high octane, 30psi) and me in normal trim (91octane, 15psi) it wasnt much of a comperison... but still fun.

Yeah that is me. Unfortunately I did not get any times on Sunday (only ran twice Sunday,a broken EVO in the carousel and traffic every lap on both sessions prevented me from a time, After that my front rotors were toast as the silly cross drills had cracks propagating to the outer edge). I really think the car and myself could do a 1:48 as is. Sunday the track was definitely a lot faster with the nice warm Sun out all day and no dampness on the track. But for being the first time out to the track I'm pretty happy, and the car is home in one piece. I hope to attend MAP 2013 and again will be at the auto-x road course events each day, all day.

Picture of the rotor is from just after washing the car once I got home. Thats not the coloring of the rotor normally

I have never been to BIR before on either track. I have only ran my 92 Supra on Road America, never my 97. I believe my best lap time (done in 2010) in a full street trim, ~300 whp, 3620 lb (w/o me) 92 Turbo was 2:53. The brake pedal was not confidence inspiring on that day with stock size brakes on the mk3 so every brake zone was way early. I Hope to do RA once next summer in my 97 so I can report back.

I do not go on aim at all these days.

Here is an in car video, just 2 laps, a car ahead of me dropped coolant in one of the corners...First time I have had that happen. It ended up cutting the session short.

Enjoyed the video, although the helmet cam takes a bit of getting used to. I have a fixed mount in the middle of the car. (You can see it at http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/cam_mount/index.html)
I've run through oil, transmission fluid, coolant - you name it - on the track and it's no fun at all.
