Your firearm-related purchases in the past week...

Just the lowdown on anything interesting you've purchased lately, not meant to replace standalone threads.

    For me:

1 Mosin Nagant 91/30 Round Receiver
1 Mosin Nagant 91/30 Hex Receiver
1 Mosin Nagant 91/30 Round Receiver, laminated stock

JSE Surplus custom 7" AR upper, with YHM Diamond carbine-length rail, Noveske Flaming Pig flashhider and BCM Gunfighter medium tac latch.

Rock River Arms Varmint A4 upper with a stainless 24" bull barrel, BCM Gunfighter large tac latch and chrome bolt assembly.

Also an Ergo grip (in FDE) for the RRA upper, which is going onto a varmint rifle build I'm putting together. And an MOE-K grip (more vertical grip than a standard AR grip) for the pistol project.

Also got a bunch of spare parts, another parts kit, spring kit, pin kit, tools, etc because things are selling out so fast. When this stuff comes in, the pistol project will be ready for assemble. The varmint rifle just needs a stock, but I haven't decided what I'm going with yet... probably plain old A2, but I'd like something nicer.

Both will need optics, but I'll worry about that once I'm back home and they're both built. My FFL is going to have quite a stack of stuff to give me when I get back

Also ordered a G-Code thigh rig for my M&P9. I started hearing about them a couple of months ago and decided to give them a shot... it'll take a lot to drag me away from Safariland, but we shall see.

Last weekend we had a gun show. Wanted something a little smaller that I could also used for concealed carry so I traded my M&P9 w/ threaded barrel for a new Glock 19...haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, so no telling if it's going to be problematic. I do hear Apex is close to releasing their extractor anyway.

What did I miss? Why would your Glock 19 be problematic?

Glock in more recent production runs (2010-current) has been manufacturing and shipping guns with extractors and ejectors that are prone to cause random ejection. Often in cases the spent casings will bounce around the ejection port, sometimes cause stovepipes, eject brass back into the face of the shooter. Some of those are comfort issues. Causing stovepipes is something I don't want in a carry gun. The ejector known to cause this problem is the "336" which still ships with new Gen3 G19's. You can help the problem by replacing it with the Gen4 "30274" ejector. Apex has supposedly been working on an improved extractor as well to cure all the problems. It is hard to tell from this picture because I don't have anything pressing up against it, but you can tell the faulty extractors from the dip towards the front edge. When you have a round in the chamber and the extractor is outward you should see a dip from the back to the front. It is still visible from this picture though.

I haven't bought anything, but I had a friend/deals (think buddy with FFL, but Canada) Just give me a brand new Norinco SKS, for helping him go through his shipment and paperwork. I prefer it to my 50-52 Russian... I also received some mid-quality (near as I can tell) Ruko 3x-9x scope. For helping someone else sell a M305. Should be ok on my Winchester 88 for hunting medium game.

I spend no money, just help friends like any good friend would and they hook me up.

Just bought a Xd 9 sub compact to keep in the apartment for the bump in the night occasion. I also got the gun vault for quick access but keeps it out of the hands of the little one. I haven't had a chance to shoot it but the ones I've shot in the past felt great.

Just curious if the purpose of the gun is for home defense, why not just buy a full size?

Why did you sell your M&P for a glock? Thats like taking one step forward and two steps back. I had a glock 23 and wouldn't go back.

That aspect is debatable. I haven't had enough time with the Glock to input my personal preference on the matter at this point in time, but I will soon enough. What spurred my decision in the first place was that I wanted a slightly smaller frame that I could use for home defense and concealed carry. I hate subcompacts and the Glock 19 is the perfect size. I loved the way the M&P felt in my hand, but honestly I think the Glock feels more natural to me. Trigger break, and especially reset is a vast improvement. I know Apex has their parts, but I didn't feel like spending another $100 on the gun to make up to par and still have it be the wrong size. Right now it wasn't in the books to have both. I paid $400 for that M&P...worked out a straight trade. $400 for a brand new Glock 19 isn't a bad deal at all and I have a feeling if it doesn't work out I can still straight trade it back for another used M&P.

Uhhh.... no. It's a lateral move at worst. Potentially an upgrade depending on which feels better to him.

I'm planning to get my CWP soon and I wanted something that I could carry in the future if I decided to. My girlfriend is 5 foot and felt more comfortable with this rather than the full size and she would have no problems handling this if she needed to and I was not home. Most likely going to make two more purchases down the road. Another handgun for her and a shotgun that stays at home all the time.

That's plenty reason right there. You made it sound like it was for bedside duty only so it would make sense to get a standard frame handgun for this purpose since concealment isn't a concern but recoil, sight radius & capacity are. If it were me I would get a standard frame until you're ready to conceal then get a compact or maybe even a subcompact for concealment.

Canceled my Rock River Arms order (for the 24" upper). I started reading up on them a little more in depth and heard some horror stories about ridiculous shipping times and waits.

Probably end up ordering from JSE Surplus again if they get some stuff back in stock.

You do realize that while larger, a full size handgun is going to be easier to shoot for women and smaller statured peoples. A bigger gun has more mass to it making it easier to control vs a small light snappy subcompact-

And the grip size is the same on an XD subcompact vs a full size XD (it is shorter, just not smaller around) so it's not a matter of grip size

Crossbreed Holster for my XDM 9mm
    2 MidwayUSA Tactical Rifle Bags
Retainer Plate for my AK so the fucking pins will stop walking out every 90rds

We have a shoot in Indy this weekend, 50lbs of Tannerite + Old Chrysler Mini-Van should be fun!
"We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers... Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls."

When dealing with the same caliber; the smaller the handgun the higher the recoil. The larger the handgun the lower the recoil due to increased mass. This is why I said that if it's for bedside use and your wife is sensitive to recoil you should look into a standard frame instead of a compact. Compact & subcompact is for better concealment but the trade-off is higher recoil, less capacity and decreased sight radius. You're welcome to do whatever you want but I'm just giving you advice based on what you've said here.
