I've seen a few FRS/BRZ cars on the road now and have sat inside a BRZ (never driven one). It looks like a fun and entertaining daily driver, and I'm older than their general demographic I'd suppose. I do agree it's no supercar, but it does look to be a fun car. If you compare it to the Miata you're actually make a fairer comparison, in terms of size and performance...although it will out-perform the Miata. Let's all hope it brings in some cash and sets the stage for a forced induction variant (or dare I say new Supra) in the future!

Interesting comparison... so now straight guys have their own Miata. These cars are all hardtops as of now correct?

I'm also under the impression that you'd have to do the same to do compression, and leakdown tests. The clearance between the head and the frame rails are too close, so you'd need to lift the motor just enough to clear it. The connecting rods are also forged, and the caps are a "Fractured" design, versus the typical machined end cap. They did it so you won't mix match the rod ends, but if they ever go out of round, it'll also mean you'd have to replace the entire rod.
Wow, I was wondering how maintenance would be effected by lowering the engine like they did. Plugs are hard to do on the WRX/STI etc but thats too bad that they're so much more difficult now. Is it a simple loosen the motor mounts and jack up the motor or is it more than that?

Yes...I believe that is correct. Steve Ishii posted a pic a couple weeks ago on his IMI FB page of the SST 'hook' Toyota/Subaru are supplying the dealers with to replace the spark plugs. My previous post was a little negative...the car IS a very nice drive. I can't get past the boxer sound though...flat fours have always bugged me for some reason. Flat 6 is where its at!

I've brought all the major/minor tune items into stock here at the store in preparation of the FR-S launch next week including filters, plugs, clutches, etc. I debated bringing in a couple of head gasket sets...but seeing as they don't have EJs in them I'll hold off for now.
