Firearms might be at a all time high, I really haven't seen it much at the shop... maybe because all the EBRs are pretty much sold, maybe other guns like pistols and hunting rifles, but ammo on the other hand, is hard to keep in stock. About the only deal I have seen come across in the past month is several hundred thousand rounds of linked 50 BMG FN ammo for 2 bucks each. We have several pallets coming in to feed our twin dueces.
I thought you run the chicken farm?

AZN to AZN, I think I want an AR that will spend 99% of its life in the case. But I want to over accessorize it.

The chicken farm was the family business...

Implementation/ Project Manager by day, gun shop consultant by night.

If anything, get a lower to start. Lowers, mags and ammo, those are the must haves right now!

    of the russian ammo?

my AR hates it... but my HK45 eats it right up. yes its filthy. but how bad can it be if you clean your weapon on a regular basis anyways?

i think i need to stock pile more ammo than i do guns.

It sounds like you are not alone. I dont know if its a standard procedure to government agencies to stock up on ammo before elections, but it would not hurt to invest in some ammo and canned beans.

As far as that russian ammo, it may require the gun to be cleaned more ofter, I was thinking about just storing in case day Z comes around, it may even be in our lifetime.

This week, it was revealed that the Social Security Administration plans to buy 174,000 hollow point bullets which will be delivered to 41 different locations all over America.

Now why in the world does the Social Security Administration need 174,000 bullets?

And why do they need hollow point bullets? Those bullets are designed to cause as much damage to internal organs as possible.

But of course this is only the latest in a series of very large purchases of ammunition by U.S. government agencies. The following is from a recent article by Paul Joseph Watson….

Back in March, Homeland Security purchased 450 million rounds of .40-caliber hollow point bullets that are designed to expand upon entry and cause maximum organ damage, prompting questions as to why the DHS needed such a large amount of powerful bullets merely for training purposes.

This was followed by another DHS solicitation asking for a further 750 million rounds of assorted bullets, including 357 mag rounds that are able to penetrate walls.

Now why in the world would the government need over a billion rounds of ammunition?

I finally got my ar to run the steel ammo. All it needed was the bcm extractor spring upgrade. Now it eats steel like a fat kid eats Doritos. Also, has anyone noticed that the federal ammo has a nasty ammonia vapor? It burns my eyes and nose when I shoot. But the Russian ammo isn't offensive at all. I know it's dirty but as long as my gun stays lubed, I'm not worried one bit.

Plus, I also bought the cmmg 22lr conversion. Now I can shoot for pennies.

i picked up one of the 22lr ar's awile back and they are fun to shoot on pennies like you said. it sure as hell beats plinking 223 or 5.56 brass. that gets expensive real quick.

I considered getting a dedicated upper to run the 22lr but it would have been too costly. I decided to get a .223 because I can also sub caliber it to the .22lr. If I had gotten an ar in a 22lr, it would be all plastic and never be able to reach out and touch someone if I had to.

I kind of want to get either a 9mm or a .40sw cus even 45acp is gettin pricey.

i just use the 22lr for practice/plinking. i would not wanna rely on it in a life or death situation. they are all plastic but 5.56 is expensive to plink all the time. i also like it because it's an ar platform so you stay used to all switches (mag release, mag changing etc) and save alot of money to on ammo. for the money it's not a bad gun.

I've been ordering ammo through freedom munitions... they have some pretty good prices, and awesome ammo "sales". Just ordered another 1000 practice rounds in 5.56/.40/.45... and I'll probably drop order another 1000 when I get paid again. It's re manufactured, but I've never had a problem running it through anything but my Taurus TCP, but that's a gun issue since that gun hates all ammo. I'm debating on getting in on one of their current deals, 500 rounds of 5.56 M-856 64 gr. Tracer for only $144.99, and actually just got 250 .45 rounds for $60 from them... but I can't shoot tracers at any of the ranges here, so they would sit as extra stock.

even though they're practice rounds, if it comes down to SHTF, a bullet is a bullet

I'd say I've been ACTIVELY seeking deals to stock up on magazines, since I feel the first things that are going to be banned will be those, if any sort of ban goes through. KY Gun Company has PMAG's on sale for under $10 each right now.

I have an M&P15-22 that I use for plinking. It's probably one of my favorite rifles to shoot because it's so damn cheap and I got it set up like my high dollar AR's but if I had to buy one I don't think I would. I won it in a drawing so that's why I had it. I said all that to say this... dedicated uppers and full rifles aren't cheap. You can buy an awful lot of .223/5.56 ammo for the difference between the cost of it and .22LR by the time you make up the difference of a dedicated .22 upper or complete rifle. I've got probably almost a grand into my M&P15-22 not counting the rifle itself so that would buy an awful lot of 556 or 300BLK for my other AR's.

i would 100% agree that if there was another ban it will start with the standard 30 round mags, and it will only get worse from there.

Curious, did they charge you sales tax since they have a Cabela's in California?

The only Cabela's in the state of Ohio doesn't open until next year, so it was a great deal for me.

I prefer this stuff over Blazer Brass because the actual boxes are smaller, and take up less room in storage.

For those of you with ARs chambered in 233/556, are you loading up on 223 or 556? Or both? Any reason to go with one over the other? Or just which ever one you can get cheaper? I've been waiting for freedom munitions to have 556 available soon but they've been out for a little while now. Maybe I'll just order some 223 for now
