Hey everyone, I just thought that I will make a thread for German supra owners. I will soon be moving to Germany, but the exact destination is not yet known. What are all of the good supra shops in the country? Thanks.

Oh ok. Yeah I can do all of the work on my supra. I was just asking more on the side of tuning. Are there many quarter mile dragstrips there?
We have few. Depends on where you are being posted to! There aren't really any good shops but we have talented engine builders. Visit www.mkiv.de![]()

'94 6spd GT4294 Supra -- My Lady & I
There are but they're unprepared like the ones in the us.. Just old runways.. Right now there's german racewars and 1/4th mile racing at Bitburg..
Nice, do you knwow how much they charge for tuning? I visited their site and did not find anything
Oh ok, thanks for the info. For military personnel, Do I have to swap over to german license plates or can I keep mine from the US?
German license plates. Front and back
That sucks. I heard emissions and inspections are pretty strict up there. How do the APU supras pass inspections?
If you're military, you get inspected in a military station. They just look at the noise level of your car, height, Tint, all lights should be operational, there's nothing zip tied on the exterior of the car like if your bumper was just held on by zip ties, tint, leaks under the car, exhaust leak, worn bushings and test drive to listen for klunks and test the brakes...
Im not sure what db you need to be in but if you have a muffler, you should be good. There is no emissions inspections either.
So if your car is in tip top shape, not running with open downpipe you should be fine.
Yea I have dark tint and the HKS 4" ti exhaust, so being APU and with the exhaust then I that might be a problem sunce it is really loud. The car is in excellent condition with no leaks or external zipties. If I used a silencer on ,y exhaust, do you think they will allow that? I appreciate all the help. Thanks.
Silencer will work.. Might be 97db.. But slap that silencer on to be sure.. But the tint is a no go
Another thing about the TUV test is that it all depends who's inspecting your car that day. For whatever reason this year, they decided that my car's exhaust was too low. They measured the distance between the ground and the lowest point of my exhaust. Last year they didn't care but they did test my DB levels. I have the older Tanabe G Power Medallion (4" DP to 3" exhaust) and it barely passed. I think the db level was 93 and passing is 95. You should be good with a sliencer. They don't test emissions on base, but they did visually inspect the exhaust for a catalytic converter. Things I did before coming to Germany. I had the exhaust modified to fit a high-flow cat and test pipe. Both use v-band clamps for easy swap. I also installed adjustable coilovers. That saved me this time around. Body parts must be no lower than 8cm and the exhaust no lower than 11cm. Good luck.

Jason,
Where did you get yours inspected at? I heard Balmholder was easier on the test the Ramstein...?
Kapaun is the car registration/testing for Ramstein. I've heard that the Balmholder station was a little easier but if you're stationed on Ramstein, they will no longer allow you to test at the Balmholder location. That happened to two of our airman in the past. Maybe they've lifted that?
Jason
Come over to Luxembourg for testing .. they are quite cool. I get my 650 rwhp Supra through MOT without any problem![]()

I used my silencer 2 years ago when I last had my Supra inspected. They had no problem with it. After the inspection was over, out came the silencer. I have had my car down since doing a complete restoration on it.
I heard that as well which is another reason I denied my 1yr extension and deuced the fu** out of Germany. Your car cannot ship without passing inspection, and I was not about to leave my Supra in Germany. My two inspections were at Baumholder before they started denying people. However, Heidelberg may still allow KL peeps as I did that once as well.
This is great info fellas!
My name is Josh, I am the "Go-To" guy for info and Registration questions ETC.
Exhaust Decibel limit for Usareur is 95 Without silencer. If you have a silencer and a suppressor kit like what i have made previously for my 13bREW RX-7 and WRX STI Turbo-backs
30day temporary tags with no exceptions to policy. if it fails twice it is required to be sold, junked, destroyed or non-op'ed. you'll play hell at wiesbaden and spangdahlem for inspections.
Baumholder is not the "safety net" inspection station, abusing it will cause usareur to change the policy to location based inspections only.
That would SUCK for outsiders with Douchebag God-complex inspectors such as Spang and Wiesbaden.
Kapaun inspection is like dealing with a Bi-polar female. one time they are awesome, the next they are shitting in your soul.
Bitburg is the place for streetracing on the weekend there is a designated area for it so it isn't illegal. just maintain your composure.
Nuerburgring (northwest of K-town toward Trier) is "possibly" shutting down due to lack of funding, even if all the enthusiasts in germany would come i don't think it would help them with the current german economic crisis.
There are car shows a lot during the summer..
No matter where you live in germany, KEEP YOUR CAR LOCKED. Every town has at least two houses with polish, russian, turkish, hungarian, romanian,or slovakian people. They will straight rob you and the polizei will do NOTHING. Park your valuable vehicles with another car in front of them so that they cannot be stolen. I already had an incident with romanians in trier at my house, scoping out my Aristo while it was parked at the end of the driveway for about 45 minutes, they had probably seen the Supra previously, but i parked an audi 100 parked in front of it.
Never accept "AUTOBAHN Gold" from anyone. throw it back at them and drive away. this is a scam and you will get robbed and have your car stolen if they want it. call the polizei and get their license plates or if you are gung-ho, detain them and have a good story when the mp's and polizei arrive, you may get a reward if they are "wanted"
Get a Dash-cam, it will save you.

WTF, "Autobahn Gold"? Never heard of it... Details please!
This is something that was briefed and passed via NIPR Email last year, IIRC (I think before you arrived). People, particularly at the time in a green car, would be roadside and flag you down using the "Stop and help the stranded" Germany thing. Then they'd offer you some kind of gold or jewelry, or say you lost or dropped it, and then rob you, etc. I saw them once, but that was prior me receiving the Email, so they're local.
I knew before long the Germans would/will stop allowing cross-base inspections, so I high-tailed it out of there with my Supra before it got trapped in country. The junking, non-op'ing, etc. for two failed inspections within a 60 day period is terrible. Some airmen can't afford to fix their cars that fast, esp with the long drawn out appointment wait of up to several weeks. Then their tags are taken, and their cars are impounded. I had a couple of airmen in my SQ who dealt with this, and as their supervisor its the most helpless, gut wrenching feeling.
Inspections are getting more strict. It seems to change everyday at Kapaun. I just had an airman in my shop jump through alot of hoops for his mk3. Before when you got inspected, they would mark what needed to be done and you would just get a reinspection on what was identified. Everytime he went back they found 3-4 more things for him to correct. It just seemed they were doing everything they could to fail the car. I've had it easy, hopefully that won't change. Still, I'm really leaning on selling my Supra soon (not because of inspection).
