Uh-oh. Did you say 'real beer comes from Canada'?

You do know that Oregon has more breweries than Germany, don't you?

The implication was that there are more breweries because there are more beer drinkers and more people who choose to drink good beer rather than Budweiser piss-water.

If you like microbrews, Oregon is the place to go in the world.

    Butthead.

Hey all. I am not wrighting this in any way to start anything back up that has now been worked over. This is just a true statement that I have seen being in the customizing of cars professionally.

I have done a number of custom turbo jogs and seen some of the same things. The worst one that I came accross was I did a custom tubo on a 99 Escort. And this was on the 2.0 SOHC not the zx2 motor. ( I know crazzzzy but the guy wanted it done and he had the money.) But to the point.

He had the money to do it right but he didn't want to beleive me on all the things that needed to be done to make it work right. He wanted to do it cheap and fast the first time. And he didn't let me tune the car completly after I was done. He just took it and drove. Well a week latter it came back to the shop on the hook. Didn't run now.

I pulled the head and the ring lands were gone on two pistons.

I put a new motor in and convinced him to let me finish the job right. (blow off valve, upgradded ignition and intercoller) It cost him another $1500 on top of the new motor. But when I got done with it it was running 9s at are local 1/8 mile track. Pretty good considering it ran 11-12s before. He was also only running 8lbs. It has been running strong since. 4 Months ago. Daily driven, track raced and street raced alotttt!!!!

The way this contributes to this issue is that any motor can handale being turboed as long as it is done right and not hacked toghether. And there are a lot of guys that are weekend wrenchers( pardon my words) that do these types of things excelently and the right way but there are also a number of them that don't research it and just go with no clue and they have lots of problems and they are the ones that will complain and say its the motors fault or the car is a piece of crap.

Remember you mostly here about the bad and not the good. There could be 10 times the good stories then bad but you will only here 1 good storie to every 10 bad stories.

So ma70t just keep doing your research and if your not confident with doing something pay some one to do it or ask a lot of questions and make sure you are sure on how to do it. And start low and work your way up. That way you can learn more as you go, about both the mechanical and the technical. You will need to know more technical then mechanical to make it really run.

    Canadian beer doesn't own shit.

Let's settle this amicably and say that both locations have better beer than average.

    :beerchug:

...otherwise I'll have to go research beer-tasting medalists and you won't like seeing those numbers...

Quick, sounds like a plan, just let us know when and where. I'll be hosting a little old school Supra & Corolla meet sometime within the next few months up here so you guys will have to come up for that one too.

King, yes they are a cheaper car and many were bought as fun commuters and beat on heavily, but there were also alot more of them sold overall I'm guessing and I find it about the same in difficulty to find a nice mint one here as it is to find mint mk2 supras now. The only problem is the initial d following has driven up the interest and thus the prices on them so much lately that the compitition to get them when they come up is pretty staggering. That didn't stop me though, I'll be getting a nice one for very cheap within the next month . I've never heard of any common electrical problems with them though.

The 85 in the pics is sporting 15x7 Enkie meshies on the rear and rikens on the front. Just the stock 5mge under the hood for now (only had the car for about 5 months) but I'll be going to a 6m when the opertunity arises. My 86 is my project car, this one is my town\highway car. I've done a little suspension work on it though and a new muffler, header and intake are all waiting to go on. The rims on it will be moved over to the AE and I'll be putting these bad boys back into action on my 85....
