It is divided and it is also DBB. The exhaust housing is the same on both turbos you mentioned and A/R options are .98, 1.12, 1.28, and 1.44.

please explain because i thought the exhaust housing was the difference in spool characteristics for the majority of your power band?

The larger compressor wheels have more mass, therefore need more energy to move, and that equates to more lag. Yes, same turbine, very different compressors.

So I don't think I missed it, but is the 71billet available with a twin scroll housing?

That's good to know, I thought I heard somewhere that precision didn't make divided housings under 76mm, must have been wrong. I would loe to rock a 71 billet with an SP quick spool valve!

You did hear right, that's what they have been talking about most of this thread. There isn't a PTE turbo that's a 71 with a divided exhuast housing. BL was just recommending a GT Series that is similar but a large frame turbo.

That makes more sense to me now. My question now is if the garrett equivilant would have a billet wheel or not? Sorry if this was covered, I feel like I'm not quite on the same page here.

Silvia is incorrect. The turbo that Zohair is talking about is a Precision/Garrett hybrid. Its a GT42R turbine(divided housing) with a Precision billet 71mm compressor. Its also available with a Precision 76mm compressor.

But it's still correct you can't purchase a divided housing on a PTE turbo straight from them? |

Well now that we have everything sorted out..... lol
That sounds like a very potent combo. What would be the hotside options? Reid

Precision makes divided housings for stuff like the GT42 and GT45, but nothing else.
Reid, you can get .98, 1.12, 1.28, and 1.44 housings. |

What is the spool difference between the gt42 with precision 71mm billet compressor wheel and the gt42 with the precision 76mm wheel?
Is the only thing changed from the (gt4294 and gt4202) to the precision (gt42-71 and gt42-76) the compressor wheels? Is there a difference in spool or power from the gt4294 and the precision gt42-71mm billet wheel with the same housings? Do the gt42-71 and gt42-76 precision turbos share exhaust wheels and exhaust housings? I am really trying to nail down my single choice so I can just buy one, already. Are the precision gt42 units as reliable and as well balanced as well as the garrett counter parts? How do the warranty's differ? What is the price difference?

The smaller HPQ wheel is available with the brand new updated Precision 71mm billet turbo, many are already in use with the Buick Gn guys.
http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/tur...as-landed.html Another little tidbit of info no one knows about is that the HPQ wheel is the exact same wheel as the Turbonetics S-Trim available on GTK turbos and others specified with the S-trim wheel. Turbonetics sells a divided housing for this wheel up to 1.06, this would work great for you guys wanting a divided housing for the precision turbos.............. .no divided housing for the HPS wheels yet unless going to a GT42 frame as mentioned above.I will post the part numbers off the digital Turbonetics catalogue tomorrow. 87 GN Hardtop 250ci Stroker, Girdle, GN1 Heads, Fast XFI, Razors Alky, PTC n/l, 3.5 DP, Tial WG/BOV, GTK-72mm BB Last edited by NUKLRSIX; 06-30-2009 at 01:41 AM. |

Is it possible to get a precision garrett hybrid gt42-71 with the new precision billet 71mm compressor wheel and a T6 divided housing? Will the T6 foot print hurt the spool up?
Will a precision billet 71mm turbo out preform the garrett hybrid in spool up, max power, or powerband, ect? Is there a divided housing available? |

divided housings usually hurt top end power. that said the precision housing will be slightly more efficient power wise. spool wise divided housing will slightly outperform it if the header is designed properly for it or if used with the spool valve.

to give you guys an idea, my regular 71dbb with a .81 hotside, non devided, spools at 4500, makes power to 8. i have not maxed out the turbo but others have around 850's, so its defintly making alot of power for the spool.

There are a few new billet 71mm turbos available right now but only in the small frame. Let me know if anyone is interested.
