Anyone using the turboimport.com billet timing belt tensioner bracket?

Listed about 2/3 down this page: http://turboimport.com/catalog/supra_engine.htm

Billet is billet right? As long as the materials are of decent quality and the machine work is correct, there's not much other room for variance.
Anyone using this one? The name brand options are $315-$350, but this one is $245 (plus an inflated $16 shipping). If its all the same, I'll save the extra cash... (unless one of the other guys wants to have a sale, hint hint!)

I was looking at that as well, I also think they are all the same, one place of manufacture, multiple vendors. not bad at 245 compared to others, TurboImport also has them on E$ay at a same price.

Its all the same. Friend of mine got one, and was great quality. Thats the price it should be. Its just most Supra shops or vendors are so overpriced. If people would step out of the kiss ass Supra world , they would see how much money they could save and get same parts. Definitely get it and save a few bucks!

Or, some guy hawking parts out of his mom's basement has no overhead to cover, unlike a real business, and can thus undercut their prices and still make a profit.

Having met and buying from Al personally, I can say I hope you aren't referencing him directly here and speaking in a general sense, as that is not the case at all with him.

I don't know the guy or his business at all. It does say on his website that he has no retail location (the basis for my semi-joking comment) and from your post I assume it is a 1 man operation. No employees and no retail facility are both major overhead cuts. Not saying he is shady or anything but it would explain how he can beat established businesses prices by so much, without them being "so overpriced" as the '80's tv show guy put it.

How do you think real businesses got their start?

My dad had 50 lbs of shrimp to sell out of the back of his station wagon 25 years ago. We're now doing $2.5 million a year with two employees.

No need to get in a big discussion over this. chevyeater just got the wrong idea and misinterpreted the biz. no big deal...

Do I really need to explain why we have no showroom right now? No, but i'll throw it out there anyway.

It's obvious that we aren't a huge mega shop like Titan, HPF, SP, etc... not even close. It has always been a small operation with me and just a couple of part time helpers over the past 8 years.

Do we work on cars, stock inventory, have a lift, tools, go racing, etc... of course. The biz has a crapload of $$$ invested in just tools and inventory. Yes I have overhead costs to keep the biz going.

Do we have a retail showroom. Not at this moment, but we did. You can't really setup much of a showroom when your shop is only about 800 sq ft. You barely have enough room for the lift, tools, parts, and park a couple of cars at a time.

The simple fact is that the economy is absolute crap and business is super slow. I just can't afford the extra space right now. Turboimport has been scaled back to reduce overhead & ride it out. So we have no stinkin showroom right now. I apologize if this upsets people, but it is what it is. There's not much I can do about it right now.

Anyway, that pretty much sums it up. I appreciate the supportive responses. Thanks guys.

Al, I didn't know you guys wrenched on cars?

Turboimport is one of the few trustworthy shops i would deal with. Al's been a great help and a stand up guy. I would not have any issues working with him.
