How bad is this damage?

Well I was on a role with my valve seal job... put new valve seals in along with Crowler springs & retainers. The springs were a lot stiffer than stock so it took quite a bit more force to seat the keepers. I was using a keeper insertion tool and on my last cylinder, I needed to hit it with a hammer in order to get the keepers installed. Well the tool slightly moved and when I hit it, I hit the aluminum just at the edge of the cylinder. This prevented the valve stem cap (I do not know the technical term for it) from going back on. So I took a very fine sandpaper and slowly sanded away at the indentation until I was able to get the cap to go back in the cylinder. As of now, it feels exactly like before - nice, tight and smooth but the fact that I damaged the aluminum makes me worry about how this might affect the engine. Attached below is a pic. Any ideas on how much damage this may have caused, and if I need to worry about it?

*Note* If you can't tell from the pic, the damage is on the right side of the cylinder.

Thanks

Mike

Not a big deal, just make sure the bore wall is very smooth and the lifter goes in easy, Rob NJ.

Yea MAV there is that "cap" that goes over the top of the cam and as long as there are no burrs that could touch the cap then you are fine. The rest of the bore will keep it centered.

No worries buddy.
