Not done yet, need to get the last of the fuel system done and then install the water/meth. Hope to have all that done in 2 weeks or so.

Nice times for such low boost. What rear gears are you running? I ran a 13.2 in '06 with the 4.10 gears, but couldn't beat that with the 3.9 gears and way more power last time I raced.

There 3.73's, I have a 4:10 diff here I may swap in and see how that goes, The car had a 12 in it but I was not able to get off the line good at all 2.4-2.6 60 foots usually with this car and street tires I can get 1.9 60 foots.

Went to the dyno on Sunday and started the final tune, got all my water/meth sorted out as well.
All tuning was done with out water/meth to start. At 11psi we ended up with 390whp and 370ft/lbs. At 16psi we were pushing 466whp and 440ft/lbs and lost fuel pressure again so that ended the day there. We were able to get all the load cell tuning done and the drivabillity is amazing, so much off boost torque now. The car has been set back to 14psi to be safe for now wile I try and figure out the fuel problems. I think I have them narrowed down to a bad FPR so I replaced it last night and tested the system. I just worked on the car for a few hours and it looks like it was a bad diaphragm in the Aromotive FPR. I took off the vac line to it off and had a strong fuel smell, I then checked it for vacuum and it would not hold 15in for more than 2 sec. I had a spare (brand new) and swapped it on in its place and did some tests. I can get the Fuel pressure to 95psi with no problem. I set the new FPR to 65psi static and gave it 30psi of air pressure. It held that constant for the full 30sec test. I then took off the return line and tested it again at 95psi with the return going into a large jug. In 15sec I got 1 liter of fuel so 4L/min (240L/hr) sounds good to me. I then tested it again at 65psi and got 1.2L in a 15sec test 4.8L/min (288L/hr). Those numbers for flow sound good to me. That was all done with both the MKIV pump and the 044 inline with it. Trying to have enough fuel for 650whp on my 83lb/inj.

More fuel pressure fail, thought we had it nailed but I am still droping pressure at 13psi. This sucks! I am almost ready just to put a couple Walbros in and be done.

So your pumps aren't up to the task?? If you end up going dual walbro, see if you can rig up a failsafe of some sort to detect if one fails.

I have my FP being logged by the ViPEC and hope to be able to make a 4d map so that if fuel pressure drops it will pull boost. What do you have for fail safes with your twin Walbros? Jeremy

No, I don't have any failsafe for my dual Walbros, but I was trying to think of something electrical, maybe a current detecting circuit or something. I'm only pushing 450hp so far, but when I go over 500 I'll look into it further. I think your ViPEC solution sounds just fine! |

i have three walbros and the only fail safe i have is for fuel pressure. other than that is a pump fails under WOT, there isnt much you can do.
good luck figuring out the problem jeremy, check that hose i was telling you about. i had the same problem under normal conditions it was fine, but under load it waould leak, just one of those long nights and didnt tighten the clamp all the way.. if thats not it, then i think your feed it to small. but if you eliminate of pump and its doing the same thing, it has to be something else. |

Thank you! Update: We dropped the tank on Tuesday night and found nothing wrong in the tank. The MKIV pump was good and so were all the lines, no leaks or kinks. flow tested the pump and the filter and got over 280L/hr flow at 0psi. so that it plenty when its feeding the 044 at low pressure. We also removed the 044 for now till we track down the problem. I had fuel pressure dropping before with the MKIV pump so lets make sure that's fixed first. We also re wired the MKIV pump again this time with the ground going straight to the battery. One thing we did find is a couple of lose wires in my Bosh fuse holder. The pins were not tight and were able to move a slight bit. So we fixed that now and there all on there good and tight. We took it out for a boot last night to see if we still have pressure dropping and it was rock solid all the way up to 15psi. Now this is just on the MKIV pump so that's much better than before. Before with just the MKIV pump we had drop at 11psi and with the 044 we had it at 13psi. So now that we know we have the original problem of pressure dropping with the MKIV pump we are going to move on and see if we have any problems with the 044 hooked up. I do not see any problems with the 044 hooked up as it turned the MKIV pump into a Low pressure feed pump and at that low pressure the MKIV pump moves a lot of fuel. I will keep you updated as we move on but now it maybe time to start seeing what this thing can finally do after 4 years.
