Very cool project - I love a decent straight six with a huge turbo, though its a bit like putting an RB26 into a Supra.... ie, a downgrade. Makes sense if you are sticking with what you know however.

If you're referring to the loss of displacement, I agree. However, I'd call that somehat of a debatable statement overall depending on what your goals and/or budget are. Inline 6's are pretty remarkable motors, and since they don't really build many anymore in the Japanese family, I'd say there is something pretty cool about this swap.

This is a cool swap, and I don't understand why these VQ Fans are getting so Butt hurt.
What's amazing is that there are lots of folks out there that still want and do - transplant the 2jz into their platforms because of how great of an engine it is....These things are 10+ years old now! Is there other engines out there that are that highly regarded for their power potential and ease of availability and uses? LSx Maybe?

Here is the first quick vid shot today. Just doing some base AF tuning with these huge injectors and driveability. Once clutch is broken in, we will do some full passes. Mainly posting this because people wanted to hear the exhaust note.

I try to play the side of the fence I am posting on always. It is good business sense really. It gets people riled up and wanting to do more insane projects like this. Like I said on the Z forum, Supra and 350Z owners are the absolute Type-A personalities in society which makes them naturally competitive and defensive in what they believe.... (just look at the Z-Days thread on who is going to bring the fastest guns out.... it was like 6 pages in 2 days).
This kind of reaction shows how passionate you guys are about your cars and motorsports. I am the same way about what I do as a job, and I absolutely relish completing projects of this caliber. Martin |

Begone, Doug ma mean the designation "VQ" was alive before the actual VQ35 in the Z, but these were all smaller mostly unrelated versions, like the VQ25DE, if you ask me.
I am pretty sure Doug remembers where he is, but I also think he over reacted towards the OP. He's posting this on SF, of course he is going to poke fun at the VQ. I don't think the fuck off comment was called for, regarding something so trivial. Doesn't matter anymore though. Maybe he said he was being political to keep you VQ lovers happy. the price is like every thing from Xat over priced...21k$ for a swap....jess...i remember you swap ''kit'' for LSx's into 240's...11 K$ for a ''complete swap''...yea right...the guys has done it for less then 6K$ DIY baby !!! ..... that been said....great jop for swaping the greatest japenes engine into the ''all show and no go'' VQ Powerd 350Z's.... If you know anything about boost, you'd know higher compression engines always make more power at lower psi's than lower compression engines. And to that note.. you'd also know lower compression engines can handle much more psi for that same reason.

displacement.. even at lower compression the VQ will make more power per PSI and more TQ than the 2JZ
