I have noticed that without launch control, the GTR has a 1.8 60' with the launch control it has a 1.6 60'. 1.8 is still pretty decent.
Also, Nissan in increasing the GTR's power next year by 5ps. That's about 5hp I am thinking. This is probably to still get the 3.3 0-60 and the same 1/4 miles speeds that the LC cars had. ![]() And lastly, I think the GTR is a better deal then the ZR1 now. Its more consistent, and I am sure the GTR was the first in the tens? Am I wrong? Regardless, a tune, and more boost is all that's needed (exhaust don't seem to make power; outside of midpipes that is) it seems. Which I might add that I said this almost a year ago, before the car came out.

If only you could get the ZR1 at MSRP... Unless you have the hookup, its 170k for the ZR1.

Saw these today. And a Gallardo Superleggera for bonus. Also an audi RS4 thrown in there I think.

The ZR1 has been out for a much shorter amount of time than the GTR. And it's taking "BPU" GTR's to run similar trapspeeds to ZR1's. At MSRP the ZR1 is a much better bang for the buck. I personally can't wait to see what BPU ZR1's are capable of (guess is ~750 RWHP and high 9's on sticky tires) BTW, I doubt 5 HP will be enough to drop the 0-60 times from 3.9 seconds to 3.3 seconds unless they redo something to allow a pseudo LC on the 2010 cars.

not really...if anyone says that a GTR w/ BPU mods > ZR-1 at "BPU" stage than they aren't well informed...
The ZR-1 is already one hell of a beast and better than the GT-R at stock and *should* be easier to modify. Give it another month or two. |

T66 Dawg never said that. For the record, a 750whp ZR1 would be more like a BPU++++

Here is why I think the GTR is a better deal than the ZR1.
First price; there are two sides to this. The ZR1 cost 25-35k more than the GTR. So you are in the hole to begin with, and seeing Z06’s can’t even sell anywhere close to MSRP, comparing the resale values down the road, it looks bleak, to me here it’s all in the GTR’s favor. Power; the GTR is down almost 100whp stock, looks bad, yet somehow despite the vette weighing a couple hundred pounds less, and making more hp, it can still only must trap speeds about 5-7 mph faster than the GTR, and on top of that its E.T’s are only a few tenths better. Is that worth25-35 grand? I dunno. I don’t see how a 911TT is worth twice the amount of a GTR, seeing that it’s slower in most tests. After market; I give it to the to GTR big time here. As far as Tuners; the Japanese, Australians, British, and the US developing parts for it. I do not take a genius to know that competition helps the consumer. On the vette side, well they have flow master, Borla, and well uh…. Lightenfelter Its better than that, but I doubt it will reach the GTR level. And lastly, 2 grand in parts, and that price will drop I am sure, and you have a car that’s almost as fast as the ZR1, a lot more consistent with the average driver, a lot easier to drive at limit, and a lot better built. Not to mention, it can be used on a more daily basis, and it has a more usable interior, and an interior that does not belong in a Cobalt. You could take that last 30 grand, and put it in the bank. So what gear does it take to run a 10.88 at 133 in a Nissan GT-R without using launch control, Animal House Racing develop many of their own parts in house and here’s what it ran down the 1/4 mile: * AHR Ceramic Wheel Bearings * AHR Ceramic Pulley Bearings * AHR Thermal Gasket Set * AHR Race Y-Pipe * COBB Tuning AccessPORT (custom tuned) * 93 PUMP GAS w/1 gallon 100 oct Last edited by Hurrakaine; 11-24-2008 at 07:56 PM. |

Why? I expect a ZR1 with a full exhaust, tune and smaller pulley to turn those kind of numbers. That to me is BPU.

You really need to do some research. The entire corvette line has such a insane amount of aftermarket behind it. The GTR aftermarket will never touch the scale of the Corvette aftermarket.
The vette is a bulletproof animal while the GTR has a transmission that is fragile. Verdict ZR1>>>>>GTR Quote:

C'mon T66dawg, you gotta give the nod to the GTR in aftermarket support since the Corvette isn't very popular and has a mysterious engine that hardly anyone has worked on.
