Conversely, it'd be interesting to see how that helps given that the driver in these vids is constantly running off-track in corners and spewing debris all over the racing line -- gives an AWD car significant advantage when they're accelerating out of a corner.

Very interesting topic, That is one of the best built cars in the time attack series in the uk. I think they probably have the deepest pockets in the series
![]() We need UK vs US vs JAP TA event, but I guess that will never happen, it would be awesome though. |

My brain keeps playing back this mantra about "...the fastest line around a track is not drifting/sliding thru all the turns..." but watching this Subie is taxing my basic belief system.
I hope we get to see a competition between these guys and a very talented but more traditional approach like from the Factor X pineapple guys. |

You know what satisfies me the most about that car is that the power plant I developed for my eclipse absolutely kicks that subarus ass on torque and power at every point in the graph, when they dont have the nos anyways. And even with them on nos no nos I still have more torque at most places in the graph and only 35hp of short of their peak power. Of course engine is just a small part of the package. Those did some great work on the chassis, suspension, etc

I have first hand witnessed this car go round a few circuits here in the uk and must say it is awesome!
It has killed everything this year in time attack and has also registered a 9.2 second 1/4 mile at 152mph on a runway surface and not a proper prepped drag surface! I was told by a fellow supra time attack enterant that they have rumour to have spent about £250000 odd uk pounds on the car all in all ! so $550000 roughly of your us dollars! how would one of our top time attack supras fair against this guy?? any ideas ?

Way to take the appreciation we all have of that subaru to bad place.
Also you are wrong, the super GT lap times are absolute murder against the top top Japanese time attack cars and they are renowned as the fastest time attack cars in the world. SuperGT is also restricted to 500crank horsepower. It's all aero, chassis, suspension.

![]() That's a supra body on a one off race car. Care to drag race my buddy's 07 GT mustang? ![]() Point is, they spent a ton of money on the car to make it VERY fast, and beat its competition. No one has done that with a supra yet, so there arent any supras out there. I know I'm at supraforums, where 99% of you are under the impression that jesus decended from the clouds driving a MKIV, but there are better platforms out there for this type of racing. |

Thats really ironic in context of the OP of this thread. A 2008 time attack winner posting giving props to one bad ass scooby.
For the record superGT are not race car bodies made to look like supras. All original chassis is retained including suspension pick up points etc. Aero modifications and widebody, yes. race car body/chassis, no. I think you should do some research on results for supras in racing and the specifications for the relevant series. I think you don't realize that your stereo type could actually be further from the truth. I havent seen anyone show anything other than respect for that car in this thread. Are you just here for trolling or what? Last edited by gixxer_drew; 11-26-2008 at 04:59 PM. |

The only thing that would make Roger Clark's Gobstopper even quicker around the track is more aero work. That thing is all over the place. Bigger tires would also help. This car reminds me of the Group B Rally cars of the 80's...power, driving skill and power...
